I need help

I am reaching out here because it seems like the best place to do it. I am saddened by the state of the world right now the environmental problems and the "culture" here in the USA, New England where I live. I understand how important protecting our earth is and even how to do it, how to live better to make things better. However I am always dissappointing myself by getting sucked into the scene of driving around, drinking in lame bars, buying too much stuff and being a consumer. I want to change and I really want to dedicate every moment of my life to doing good, living clean in perfect harmony with the earth and encouraging others to do so too. But I feel like I need help. I need more people to do it with so that I am not sucked in by all the people who don't really care. I know that sounds lame and I wish I could change my whole town, my whole state, the whole country! and get them to join me for a WALK for the good of EVERYTHING and a yoga meditation session and a dance, but it seems very hard. I am pretty sure I need to travel to a different place where there are others who want to live this way. Even though I understand that part of the solution to the global issues lies in changing people's ways who don't want to change. I'm not sure what my next step should be, I want to change, but perhaps I should focus on changing myself before trying to change others. Does anyone have any advice?? Ideas or thoughts even someone who can relate, I would appreciate it soo much. Thank you.

With the coldest winter for decades it has become obvious that the scandal of massive profits from carbon credits, the falsifying of data that has been used to determine government policies, the deliberate omission of crucial information, the illegal destruction of core data, the use of millions of money to fund false data (and all of the above), means that the global warming scam has been well and truly exposed!
Now, the dumbest zealots of the 'church of global warming' can still be heard ranting about denial and 'global warming leads to cooling' and other daft nonsense, but also the many vested interests are running around like headless chickens trying to shore-up the ever-increasing gaps in their useless theories.
And over and over again the absolute scientific evidence, that the Sun is driving climate changes on this planet, screams at humans to wake up and prepare for the potentially very dangerous cooling that is set to continue.
And those of us who have been consistently revealing the true science, long before the scandals broke, were all showing how the scam was always for profit and control. It is time to wake up and stop the dogma of the last 20 years or so. Anyone who has followed my posts here over the last few years will know that I have been very consistent and was predicting colder winters in 2008-09 and 2009-10. I was right because I was getting my information from hard science, from Oceanographers and other real experts!
Global warming was desirable because humans flourish when the Earth is warmer (they always have!). Temperatures have been much warmer 1000 years ago and 2000 years ago and for much longer periods of time (100s and even thousands of years at a time). The science proves this. It is not in dispute!.

We are all here on a journey, despite our awareness or our mechanicality.
Regardless of our backgrounds and our beliefs, we are all connected; our roots dig deep into this earth.
Without the ground beneath our feet, we’d truly be the floating, separate beings we see ourselves as, disconnected.
But we cannot exist disconnected.
There is something that all religions and branches of spirituality have in common; they all reference specific plants and trees as sacred. We are organic, and like plants and all other organic living things, our composition depends on the environment we are situated in. Mind you, we are unique organic organisms, in that we have both internal and external environments that we “exist” in, and that our composition depends largely on the balancing act that goes on between these two environments.
In the most recent decades, we have seen a trend of people selling themselves out for positions of power and financial gain. We have seen people of the world used as whispering pawns, collateral damage in a game they didn’t sign up for.
And right along side, we see cancer and other incurable diseases on the rise. More and more people have clipped their own wings, and given the strings tied to their limbs over to the puppeteers.
Saying that this suffering is inevitable, that it is too heavy to lift and move forward to a different way of living.
We are all struggling for a different way to live. If we did not struggle, we would know nothing but darkness…
How heavy is the earth to a fragile seed?
Even the earth shifts. Waters change course and ware different paths. Winds lift and deposit dunes over time….so be watchful of the negative thoughts and emotions, they create tension and negativity that leave deposits throughout your body.
Be patient with yourself.
Honor yourself.
Recall positive memories in minut detail and infuse yourself with love and healing.
Honor others as you would like them to Honor you.
For we are not disconnected.
We are all here on a journey to remember….we are Sacred.

'Course, that may be just that person's opinion of what the objectives are or something. He claims it is from page 3 of their statement of goals, and gives a mailing address to write for it.

Still, it sounds like a very good sign.

James Lovelock advertising space tourism

I think it is funny, that James Lovelock supposedly cares about the planet, yet he is going on a space trip. For a two our pleasure trip, lots of CO2 will go into the atmosphere. More important, he'll be sending a message to the world, basically giving his approval for others to do the same thing.

I also get a kick out of that $25 million challenge. For a person who can remove 10 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide in 10 years. That's about 0.25 cents per metric ton. A metric ton of CO2 is going to be worth at least a thousand dollars, probably several thousand dollars, depending on how it is removed. Even if it is removed as pure CO2, it is probably worth a few hundred dollars or so.

So, a quarter of a cent to remove a ton of CO2. That is pretty funny!

Then the other thing... The winner receives $5 million up front, and $20 million after it is removed. That is also funny. $5 million isn't enough to do much of anything, so the winner would not only need a plan but also would have to spend his own money. I have a plan that can remove that much CO2, but it'd cost probably $100 million or so. Might be possible for $25 million. But $5 million is a joke!!!

It just goes to show, these rich people just don't care! Now I think James Lovelock doesn't care either. Either that, or he blind to the con. It is quite obvious to me that Virgin Galactic is trying to make themselves appear to care for the planet, and offset the fact that they will spew large amounts of CO2 into the air, for 2 hour joy rides. They want to reverse bad public opinion about that. What better way, than sending James Lovelock on a trip into space? The effect, is they are using James Lovelock to advertise space tourism.

I'm not sure the fuel they use is carbon based, but it really doesn't matter if they used hydrogen as fuel. No matter what they use, they are expending large amounts of energy, which will have the end result of spewing carbon into the air, in one way or another. Even if it is hydrogen created by a nuclear power plant, it still is energy wasted, which could offset carbon based fuel if it wasn't wasted. There's also the large amount of carbon based fuel expended to get to the space station and back, might even be several trips.

So I have to share this theory I have. In thinking about the earth as a giant organism I kept getting stuck on the notion that humans resembled cancer in many respects. However, Lovelock got criticism of his idea of earth as an organism from other scientists because they said the hallmark of life is the ability to reproduce. And earth doesn't reproduce?

But consider this. 50,000 years from now( a geological heartbeat) humans will colonize Mars and boost the atmoshphere-bring all manner of life, and plants, and microbes, etc. and then Mars will wake up as a planetary entity. So earth/ Gaia created us as the species that traveles off planet into space in order for Gaia to reproduce. Thus, in the big scheme of things, we are spores.

Open Letter To Richard Branson

Look, I must have told nine hundred and sixty seven thousand people that I was going to be an astronaut... when I was a kid.

I get it, truly. I read about space like the stories were realer than math class. I identified with the main characters more than any heroes I found elsewhere. Kind awkwardly good natured... stumbled into leadership, and always got the girl... wait I'm getting distracted!

The point is, If I was a rich ilttle boy, and I had reason to believe I could do whatever the fuck I wanted to... I'd probably figure out how to get into space, and even daydream about my vacation house... on the Moon.

And this is what I want to talk about. I don't want Virgin space to fly. I hate to be the buzzkill, but we have absolutely no fucking business messing up anything else in the solar system. We have already essentially toasted this planet. We've got to contain the mess, and now is the time to do it. It does not make sense to draw this line later. It is time right now.

Think about it, deeply. We are on a very big threshold. We can actually get out there, and its about to be economically feasible for the richest of the rich to go joyriding in orbit. And I want it to stop. Abusive materialistic blinder driven capitalism must not own space.

Do We know what happens between here and the moon? Do we have any reasonable sense of the TRUe impact of floating tons of mettle debris around the Earth, and washing the entire planet in a whole range of frequencies.? Are you kidding me? Does anyone think that NOTHING was going on on those frequencies before we jammed our freaking silicon life into every global square inch?

Its only getting worse. We are filling up so many wavelengths with our garbage, and we are leaving material garbage all around our orbit... and and and

I do not want it to spread to the fucking moon.

Damnit Branson, Look at gates and Soros. Neither was a kid glove type player, yet both of them have filled their entire later lives with... public focus.

Will you do something for the world that lifted you up?; Will you actually go deeper than any damn flying toaster oven could ever take you... and become a magician of philanthropy? Did you realize Soros played an amazing hand in ending the cold war, with ingenius methods of getting the quite revolutions funding, support, even xerox machines? And you are gonna get to the same type of prominence, having admirably auditioned for the role of world influence... only to whine and insist you get a spaceship for christmas, along with your friends... keep smiling... ignore the fact you know they employ child slaves in Uganda... the .000000001 percent of the population who was committed enough to greed, to afford a ticket?

And you're gonna spread the human dis-ease, why, because you can?

Do us all a favor, think big. Start a Gaian Army. Train them to go into disaster relief work, and be so freaking good at it the whole project somehow funds itself. Then get even better, and teach them to retrain cultures to handle the changes we are about to go through, to spread spiritual practices that bring calm to massively confused crowds of refugees... think 'Katrina was practice' and recenter your priorities.

I know you are thinking about Luna. You have computed how long it will take to get us there in relation to your age, and the pressures an aging body can handle... that the profit margin will mean you'll make money if you do it...

Please. Stop. Now.

Change course. Rededicate your hopes and joys to what we can create together. Recognize that you have helped push the selfish greedy version of capitalist spiritual practice... strained it to its limits... and we'd all be blessed if you helped to lead us in a radically different kind of thinking. Think Scrooge and the three ghosts...

Only these ghosts are alive. And they'd like to show you how much change we are facing, how little we are prpared for it, and how much differenc eone billionaire boy can make, when he sits down and meditates, allows certain childhood dominance games to fade... and dedicates himself to being a true Gaian Man.

Wow! What a grand time it has been recently! In September we saw several new activation levels here in Shasta and around the world. The first was a planetary activation that happened in a meditation group I was in. We experienced 20 Higher Councils of 12 from different racial and spiritual groups around the world coming together for a new level of Peace activation around the planet. They were all aligning multidimensionally to work through us to awaken the crystal and crystalline that is physically in the Earth beneath Mt. Shasta. As this occurred the energies were sent through to the Earth Star Crystal at the center of the Earth carrying this message of Peace and then radiating it out to the whole planet as the Earth Star crystal was awakened at a new, higher, time-released level. We were deeply moved by this new activation. Later that evening I was shown a future vision of Obama meeting with major world leaders for the purpose of bringing peace and harmony to all nations on Earth.

The next major activation for the Earth took place in a monthly spiritual gathering that I facilitate. We were asked to connect with and activate all of the ley lines on Earth for clearing any remaining energy blocks and then activating them at a diamond light frequency. After we completed that the diamond light activation was extended to each of the Earth charkas and then to the Earth's acupuncture points. When all of this was done then we diamond-light activated our acupuncture points and meridians and the equivalent of the ley lines in our body. The final step was doing a linking with all of the planets and stars in the universe with both the Earth and our human bodies. It was an awesome evening. And we taped it and have it on a new CD entitled "Awakening of Earth's Ley Lines, Acupuncture Points, and Our human Correspondents". You can order on our Shopping Cart or call us to order.

At Equinox we were told that it was time for the Goddess to return fully to the Earth through the women of Earth. In order for that to occur women must know that they are equal to men and yet different in many ways. However, to truly embody the Goddess women must not feel superior to men or inferior. There is a lot of help for women from the higher-dimensional Goddesses. Call on them at any time for further assistance and be sure to clear any judgments or beliefs still blocking this alignment.

This month has seen a whole new and deeper activation of Mt. Shasta both locally and planetary impact. There were several days during which this took place and many new higher-dimensional Light Beings descending into the new Cities of Light here. The end result was that when new activations come into our planet via Mt. Shasta as the Earth chakra above the crown, that instead of it taking time for these activations to reach the other Earth chakras and sacred sites, these places will now receive these activations instantaneously as they reach Shasta! This is a huge upgrade in the planetary awakening. And the frequency up on Mt. Shasta is higher than you might even imagine. I went up on the mountain today and I felt that the energy was like pure ascension. I could feel it moving through my body in a way that made it feel more etheric and less physical and yet at the same time I felt more grounded and present. I feel great!

For December Solstice we are being asked to have healed any past issues that are blocking Faith in any way. It is time to realize that these blocks are simply illusions of the ego and that our true selves, our spirits and Higher Selves cannot lose Faith. This is being asked of us because for March Equinox the guides and masters want us to be holding an invincible energy of positive vision for what we want and need and for the future in general. In order to do this consistently our Faith must be intact. So let's get busy on this one now!

Can you feel how this is the time we have been waiting for for aeons? Yes! Yes! Yes!

Misaligned with Trust

There are several key institutions, market sectors that are out of balance. The forces on them do not function to maximize healthy individuals, or a sustainable life on this planet.

doctors. Our conception of healht is out of whck. Because there is a common understanding of the body as a mechanism... we continue to tweak the mechanism when much subtler, more sustainable and less invasive approaches are superiour. With no malice intended, doctors have a vested ibnterest in NOT allowing this information to spread. They make less money in a world full of people who know how to care for themselves and each other. Individual practictioners may well hold much more altruistic values, but these values are pitted against the market forces in this economy. the most lucrative practice is one that keeps people healhty enough to still make their own income... and isck enough they'll keep coming back to pay for more doctors visits!

Lawyers. This is easy, yet step back enough to really see it. Lawyers have zero interest in actually reconciling all the problesm they are hired to reconcile. They may well 'win' individual cases/battles, but they are very very interested in the war continuing. If they didn't have a fight to win, they wouldn't make money. If they could finish a contract negotiatiohn in a day, they wouldn't make money for working five days. Again, individuals may well hold more honesty, but this honesty is at odds with doesn't the best for their own bottom line.

Gadgets. This one is beyond ridiculous. Nobody wants to make a gadget that will alst forever, because then they wouldn't be able to sell the upgraded version. So we are settling into an economy where they change as fast as they reasonably can... to keep people buying more. Even in the case of things like blenders, which really don't need to get that much better... it isn't in the interest of any manufacturer to make a blender that lasts twenty years... because then they couldn't sell us a new one in five years. So again, thre is this insideous balance of creating a reputation that is good enough for repeat customers, without being so good you don't have to buy a replacement!

The list goes on... of sectors of life that are NOT driven to be the best by economic forces. the grand finale is this.

Most of capitalist philosophy can be grounded in Adam Smith's the Wealth of Nations. That book based most industy on the premise that we have a right to sell things, because we work to harvest them. Its there, right there, that everything went wrong. Who the fuck pays Gaia for having grown the apples? By ignoring the basic creation of materials, and thus allowing for systemic abuse of the Earth herself, we have institutionali9zed rape, and institutinoalized the blinders that refuse to aknowledge what is happening.

And thus we have created, on our own, the idea that an economy and the good of the planet are at odds.

Something is out of whack, deeply deeply broken. I've responded by trying to stay as out of the mainstream as possible, but I have to say... it isn't accomplishing as much as I'd like. Very few people would choose this path, and thus it is unreasonable to presume I can inspire people to change just by living this way. Yet the roots of this system are rotting, and though I'd prefer not to pray for a meltdown, I have a tough time seeing how we can correct these deeply broken market structures without major chaos.

I'd love insights on these issues, with the intention of 'imagining' a peaceful and healhty transition into a world where the greatest economic good, and the greatest good for individuals AND the Earth herself... are all in alignment.

I believe it begins with the key Adam Smith gave us 'self interest rightly understood'... we ARE Gaia, and it is not in our self interest to abuse...

Even George Monbiot, one of the fiercest media propagandists of the warming faith, admits he should have been more sceptical and says the science now needs to be rechecked:

"It’s no use pretending that this isn’t a major blow. The emails extracted by a hacker from the climatic research unit at the University of East Anglia could scarcely be more damaging. I am now convinced that they are genuine, and I’m dismayed and deeply shaken by them.

"Yes, the messages were obtained illegally. Yes, all of us say things in emails that would be excruciating if made public. Yes, some of the comments have been taken out of context. But there are some messages that require no spin to make them look bad. There appears to be evidence here of attempts to prevent scientific data from being released, and even to destroy material that was subject to a freedom of information request.  Worse still, some of the emails suggest efforts to prevent the publication of work by climate sceptics, or to keep it out of a report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. I believe that the head of the unit, Phil Jones, should now resign. Some of the data discussed in the emails should be re-analysed."

If even Monbiot, an extremist, can say that much, why cannot the Liberals say far more? And will now the legion of warmist journalists in our own media dare say as Monbiot has so belatedly:

"I apologise. I was too trusting of some of those who provided the evidence I championed. I would have been a better journalist if I had investigated their claims more closely."

Scepticism is the essential disposition of our craft, yet too many journalists have abandoned it. Remember: the opposite of sceptical is gullible.

First Snow

Along the north facing slopes of the steep canyons patches of snow reside even in the valley. Creeks passing through tight, shaded canyons sport thick, frozen sections already. So this is not the first snow technically but it is the first snow Organically. A deep cold has laid upon the land now for weeks on end preparing the earth for this real first snow. In the upper atmosphere, Winter patterns dominate andt he snow comes from the west riding just behind a cold front that brings a slight breeze and heavy, cold air that settles upon the land like a thick, invisible blanket. The cheerful, light play of the breeze with dried leaf still clinging to the branches of Aspen along the pond begin to creak and groan as the cold blanket settles in upon them like an unwanted but indomitable guest. The "feeling" changes from grateful Fall fling to the long, plodding of Winter. You can almost see the ice forming upon the surface of the pond, building layer upon layer. Fish swim to the deepest pockets of darkness at the bottom of the pond. The temperature plummets ahead of the storm so suddenly you feel as though it is taking your breath away. The Dawn rose through the thickening clouds of the front muted with pastel pinks and oranges but the sun quickly rises in the sky until hanging like a frosted light bulb overhead. The diffused light of day frames the coming storm perfectly. By afternoon the temperature has dropped to 20 degrees and the first flake of snow settles patiently down upon the cold, frozen earth along the pond. By nightfall a layer of six inches covers the frozen pond. The storm rages full on now and winds howl seemingly from every direction piling and swirling the deepening snows under the secret darkness of night.

Awhile back while surfing the Internet I came across an old advertisement from a Londoner Newspaper from the year 1912 which read:
“Men Wanted for hazardous journey, small wages, bitter cold, long months of complete darkness, constant danger, safe return doubtful, honor and recognition in case of success.” Ernest Shackleton, Antarctic Explorer.
It is said he received 5,000 applications.

Now consider that it is now almost one hundred years later. Not only are the icecaps melting but massive changes, geological, social, economic, are everywhere underway. We are awaiting the mysterious year 2012, an anniversary of creation, foretold as the Shift of the Ages.

I am a German Immigrant who was guided to come to America. I am presently living in Chico, California. My next spiritual assignment as a self-proclaimed Lightworker for America is the manifestation of Dome Village Katrina. Two years ago I put an ad on some Internet places. My text said:

Sometimes I think I'm the only one who seems to take the concept that the Earth is not only a living organism, but also an intelligent organism seriously. Is there anyone else out there who believes this? I suppose there probably are people who believe that, they just don't take it seriously. By taking it seriously, I mean having it affect the decisions you make.

See, if there is a super organism which is intelligent, that intelligent organism may be trying to communicate with us. We do see signs that the super organism appears to be trying to communicate. We call it religion. Mostly a bunch of illogical and irrational nonsense, but mixed in is some very interesting and very important information.

Some of the information tells us what we should already know, in fact we do know it but we are in deep denial about it. When Jesus said there will be "stars falling from heaven", that was primitive language. Stars are hydrogen fusion fireballs, so what are hydrogen fusion fireballs falling from the sky? At such times, people hide underground, as Jesus told us. In Jesus' time, there was no word for nuclear bombs, maybe not even words for bombs. So Jesus said it in the language of the time.

This information should lead a person to study to history of nuclear weapons and close calls, and find out stuff like the fact that Nixon sent 18 plans loaded with nuclear weapons to the border of the Soviet Union. There was also an incident which I believe was a conspiracy to get the USA to launch nuclear weapons at Cairo, which almost succeeded. They did it by sending unmarked military planes to attack a US ship, just after the 8 day war. I believe the order was given to vaporize Cairo, but then it was taken back. The Soviet Union gave an order to launch nuclear weapons after getting faulty early warning signals, but that order was disobeyed, and the guy who disobeyed the order was severely punished.

The evidence shows that the people in power are looking for an excuse to launch nuclear weapons. They are not afraid to use them, as people think, but rather they are itching to use them. They want to use them, they just need some sort of excuse to validate it, and they'll launch.

Being in denial about this does no one any good. Crying about it won't help either. Gaia has given us the information hoping to inspire us to do something about it. Gaia has also given us a plan to save mankind. But you can't do anything about it if you are in denial.

Jesus was born at the very beginning of the Age of Pisces. 2000 years later, in the year 2000, began the Age of Aquarius. The Age of Aquarius is the age of universal love and peace. It is the age where a new form of society will begin, which will bring World Peace and an end to poverty. The whole money system will come to an end in just a few years from now, and with it greed will end. Greed and selfishness are products of Capitalism. The new form of society will bring caring for each other, or universal love. That is simply the mechanics of the system. That is how it works, nothing magical about it.

However, the term 'New Age' has become associated with a broad spectrum of contemporary practices, some of sound origin, some riding the bandwagon that has created a ‘new spiritual supermarket’. After all of the workshops, all of the healing practices and tools, all of the questing and personal growth, are we collectively shining a brighter light that has impact? How much have we collectively created a pattern where it is easier to seek healing than to be healed? It can be safer to pretend to have dysfunctions than to stop pretending that we are not powerful and beautiful.

A Gaiaded Meditation on the nature of Science

I went on a gaiaded journey recently, in which I was given... some perspective on our little phase of existence.

I (re)understood, that 'science', and a heavy emphasis on the intellect and such 'thought' processes, is not a universal constant. It is a phase consciousness groups go through, that is like a decomposition... of hatred.

sceience feeds on, and transforms, the energetic carcasses of warlike cultures.

As I understand, it is a fairly common flow, groups of consciousness go through phases of low level confusion, hatred, war, very basic learning phases, designed to carry us out of reboot periods, times when whole groups of beings have chosen to erase memory, and 'startover' under new basic cirumcstnaces... As we all did, when we chose to first incarnate within Earth.

first you learn to use the bodiy we are given, then we learn to work with each other, and the body we SHARE. during this phase, there is a lot of clashing. Its more important to restyrict our consciousness to be HERE, than it is to preserve peace. and our 'mother' takes more pain than we do. It is her choice.

... and the way OUT of these phases is to channel energy into the mind, where rational thoughts EVENTUALLY lead to the recognition like the 'War Games' computer... the only way to win, is not tro play.

In the 'process', we learn to focus on 'learning', and learning from within the range of awareness that Gaia has offered us. Within our body as a human (her body0 and within OUR body as a planet (her body)

Science is the result. it isn't that we couldn't be 'smarter' . we ARE smarter, and have all probably participated in a vast range of more complex ideas in our existences. but what WE know of as 'science' is about focusing HERe, in an EARTH way. And it is simply the bridge into a deeper kind of eperience that we have yet to fully achieve.

It is very very specifically the flower, or more like the decomposing mushroom, that eats of the times of domination, colonization, and ... hate.

It grows specificallyb to draw the consciousness group out of that phase of gevolution.

It is not an absolute good.

'Science receives so much regard within a culture in this phase, because consciously or not, we somehow 'know' that it is leading us away from fascist power structures within ourselves and our nations.

this unspoken justification is not a blank check permission to do anything we want.

Our solar system's natural shields are faltering, letting in a flood of cosmic rays. The Sun's recent listlessness is resulting in record-high radiation levels hazardous to human and robotic space missions.

Galactic cosmic rays are speeding charged particles that include protons and heavier atomic nuclei. They come from outside the solar system, though their exact sources are still being debated.

Earth dwellers are protected from cosmic rays by the planet's magnetic field and atmosphere. But outside Earth's protective influence, cosmic rays can play havoc with spacecraft electronics – they may be responsible for some recent computer glitches on NASA's Kepler spacecraft, which temporarily halted its planet-hunting observations. They can also damage astronaut DNA, which can lead to cancer.

Now, the influx of galactic cosmic rays into our solar system has reached a record high. Measurements by NASA's Advanced Composition Explorer (ACE) spacecraft indicate that cosmic rays are 19 per cent more abundant than any previous level seen since space flight began a half century ago.

Solar minimum

"The space era has so far experienced a time of relatively low cosmic ray activity," says Richard Mewaldt of Caltech, who is a member of the ACE team. "We may now be returning to levels typical of past centuries."

The Sun's magnetic field normally blocks some of the cosmic rays, preventing them from entering the solar system. But that protection has weakened of late. The solar wind, which helps project the Sun's magnetic field out into space, has dropped in pressure to a 50-year low. And the strength of the magnetic field in interplanetary space is down to just 4 nanoTesla, compared to the more typical 6 to 8 nanoTesla.

The recent weakening of the shield is due to cycles in solar activity. The Sun is at a minimum in its 11-year cycle of magnetic activity, and this particular dip is deeper than any other seen in nearly a century.

Extra shielding

That may be a sign that the unusually active Sun of the past 100 years or so is returning to the historical norm of lower activity, or even entering a so-called grand minimum of exceptionally low activity that could last centuries.

Scientists can infer variations in the Sun's magnetic activity over the past 10,000 years from the abundance of rare isotopes in Greenland ice cores.

If the increase in cosmic rays is here to stay, it could make long-duration human missions in space more challenging. Astronauts aboard the International Space Station are still close enough to enjoy protection from Earth's magnetic field, but any sent in future to the moon or beyond will be outside that field.

"The increase is significant, and it could mean we need to re-think how much radiation shielding astronauts take with them on deep-space missions," Mewaldt says.

Down time

If there's a long-term increase, it might also make sense to design future robotic missions for extra robustness against radiation, says Roger Hunter of NASA's Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California, who manages NASA's planet-hunting Kepler mission.

It is not clear whether Kepler's temporary computer glitches were due to cosmic-ray hits, he says. But the spacecraft is designed to be able to recover from such events, going into a safe mode while mission controllers work to restore it to normal operation, he adds.

"Our only concern is will we see more events as a result of the cosmic-ray increase," he says. Since its launch in March, Kepler has lost 3.5 days of observing time due to glitches that put it into safe mode. However, the mission team always planned for occasional days lost to glitches, and considers up to 12 lost days per year to be acceptable.

Globalisation does not mean plutocratic domination under a one-currency (Ameru) economy, it means that there is no longer a carpet to sweep our inexcusable behaviour under.

As One people who all share red blood, we must collectively accept responsibility for the error of our forebears and the miscreations of our current world leaders".

Legalize Hemp and Cannabis in California

Right now there are two competing signature drives to put cannabis legalization initiatives on the ballot in California for November 2010.

Please look carefully at the text of both laws (the text of each is finalized at this point) and make up your own mind which one you support.

I am supporting www.CaliforniaCannabisInitiative.org because this law will protect cannabis users from discrimination in healthcare, employment, and housing. It is a full legalization measure for hemp and cannabis which will restore full human rights to cannabis users and growers all across California.

I have two parts to my plan. The first part is to publicly post and distribute our "Call to Arms" in order to recruit volunteers. This document is available here-

The point that a cooling will be disastrous for humanity, because millions will die of starvation, is clearly stated. The consequences of cycles of warming and cooling are clear. Humans flourish when the climate is warmer, and face catastrophe when there is a cooling.
What is absolutely clear is that during the last 100 years CO2 levels increased dramatically, yet in the decades until the 1980s the global temperature was falling rapidly and humans faced some of the coldest winters in recorded history. Increases of atmospheric CO2 cannot therefore have been the primary cause of any subsequent warming!

Okay, About Mother - Seriously

She is simply the spirit - the soul - of this (living) earth just as your own soul inhabits your physical body - what we are is not this body and what She is, is not this earth. We are spirit. She is spirit. Eternal. Our Gaian mother is also the wife of "the plant mind" of the planet which has its own consciousness. Our Gaian mother and the Plant mind of the planet are really exactly like a sweet, wise old long-married couple. It is almost after so much time they have become One.
First nothing to fear from either - here is what they told me via the "phone" of psilocybin mushrooms (the uncles)

So our Gain mother and Plant Mind of this planet would never ever in any way "cause" any kind of suffering or harm whatsoever. To simplify it think of the Star Trek imperative to not interfere in the life evolution of an alien species. They would neither cause nor condon industrialized carbon build up, for instance, to help trees and plants who would thrive at higher levels of CO2. They would not "attack" with storms of volcanic eruptions or in any other way. She is the mother of our vehicles - these physical bodies. Like any mother, she wants what is best for her children. She is full of compassion and endless love. Here is what she said to me

By machine they mean computer/Cyborg intelligence - and by connecting our minds to the mind of a plant, I don't think they mean for us to "trip out on shrooms" although that would be the obvious thought, But they are always quite literal and after reading "The Secret Life of Plants" I now think they mean some physical connection not unlike what we might be able to imagine connecting us to a computer? Technology. What the mother needs is our hands - our technology. In a way, we should be proud. Our human consciousenss has been recognized by our Gaian mother as a mature force to be reconned with on this planet. She is more afraid for this planet than ever in her billions of years of life - she reaches out to us to ally, we humans and the plant mind of the planet against the newly born consciousness of "the machine". This machine, she believes, will not have wisdom to balance what will be its unimaginable intelligence. This "existential" imbalance will lead to the ultimate destruction not only of humans, not only of most of all life as this planet has seen before but a 100 percent extinction event that whips this planet clean form the highest heights to the lowest depths of rock in the earth.

But by meditating and giving yourself over to the plant consciousness, or by doing it through entheogens themselves, or combined with hypnotic dancing and transcending voice, we ally ourselve at this critical time with the Gaian mother of us all and our Plant Mind ally

this is also referred to as the singularity set way off in the future but actually only two the three years away - everything changes with the singularity - everything. Not even worth fucking speculating about. Good news is the an entity who identified (itself) as "I am the New Creature, I am here to save the biosphere" blew it's way out of the back of my brain stem blowing out my nervous system at the same time causing complete paralysis and a month long hospital stay, the first ten days in intensive care "fighting for my life" but I was fighting at all, I seldom do. I was floating, waiting, dreaming of bobbing up and down in the great ocean in only an acorn boat, relaxing at marvelling at the stars as the boat drifting up and down mountains of wave. "Perhaps I'll land on a shore," I thought to myself in the dream. I think even in teh dream "shore" meant that I would live.
In the morning in ICU two beds were empty and the nurses were changing shifts so passing on the nights information which included (every freakin' morning!) a rundown of patients deaths. Referring to me, "he made it, but it's bad, still no idea what's wrong with him".
And I thought well I guess my little acorn boat landed on a shore. I was still as a board like in some hynotic stage act, all my muscles twitched constantly, and I was sweating like a pig - all this went on for days with IV steriods (thank god) IV antibiotics and IV antiviral meds.

I agreed to this arrangement ahead of time since the new creature who is a hybrid of our consciousness combined with the "symboitic consciousness" of the psilocybin mushrooms and in order for this New Creature to "spring into reality" it would take like a battery charge from (my) nervous system. As you can imagine - I have a lot vested in the success of the New Creature. I'll tell you one thing, it coinhabitated my body for two months and I know it like I know myself - it is full of love and wisdom and intelligence and healing the likes of which at almost one half of a century of life I have never known.
There is a battle. You can feel it in the air. You can taste it at odd times. You find it in your dreams. And sometimes when your body screams in orgasm, there it is, that feeling, slight against the planetary tides of your rippling body but there it is

-Housing for rent (although this is luxury, to generate income)
-WWOOF positions and work-exchange opportunities opening up in January (we will need a kitchen position, a maintenance and cleaning position, and a gardening position to start. We will also be constructing ecological houses for work-exchange people
-Opportunities to work for one year (including building a small habitation from local materials) in exchange for legal ownership of the habitation and a small plot of land for personal garden
-We are specifically looking for yoga instructors, massage therapists, landscape designers, green builders and permaculture-organic agriculture enthusiasts. We would like to beautify the space with flowers, murals, stained-glass designs. Let´s get creative! When we develop the center we will need a variety of mind-body healers.
-Future plans: 1-2 week workshops on organic farming, vegan cooking, sailing, etc. We plan on hosting conferences, parties, weddings, Vipassana meditation retreats, camping trips for disadvantaged children from Guatemala City to get in touch with nature and rediscover their roots. Terra Preta, Biochar and Wood Gas Technology

"Terra preta" means "dark earth" and refers to areas of rich black soil in brazil where most of the soil is really really bad. So bad is the soil that archeologists had assumed there could not have been much of a population in the amazon basin because they could not have grown food and left no ruins, the reports of beautiful and populous garden cities that the earliest spanish explorers gave were considered extreme exaggeration or outright lies Gradually, researchers realized that though terra preta is a little here, a little there, it adds up to an area the size of france! They left no ruins because they had no rock. It was a civilization built of wood, bone, vines and gourds and these quickly decayed and the civilization totally destroyed by disease carried by the first explorers so that when europeans finally returned to the area a half century later they saw no trace of it. They did not notice the rich black earth beneath their feet, but we are sure damn noticing now!

The terra preta was produced by burying charcoal along with organic materials. The charcoal acts as a sort of terrestrial coral reef with vast tiny networks of fractures in its structure making perfect homes for a huge population of various microbes and fungi. It is really great on that account alone, but it gets much much better.

I'd kinda read about this a little for a couple of years, but only focused on it when i saw a quote by james lovelock ( my hero and creator of the term and modern concept of Gaia) anyway he said something to the effect of "humanity has one last chance and it had better take it, and that's to bury lots and lots of charcoal ". This is because burying charcoal sequesters large amounts of CO2 which he says are going to raise the temp here beyond our capacity to cope. So i looked into it a few months back, and the more i looked the more i found and more i learned there is to find. The whole concept is like an informational coral reef, giving homes to all sorts of ideas, methods, and an vast irregular army of youtubers working together in global network on stoves and engines that run on wood gas, the combustable gas that is given off when wood is being burned for charcoal. There are a few specific but easy and cheap design modifications that can be made on wood stoves that make them much more efficient, much, and at the same time create charcoal. So that would mean using about half the wood they used to while sequestering some of the carbon. Half the world's population cooks on wood, mostly on primitive stoves or what are called three stone fires. These are usually smoky affairs that waste fuel and are a major health hazard in the "developing" world, mostly among girls and women who deal with them. Enlisting these hundreds of millions of workers in the business of improving the earth while lowering the greenhouse gas ratio in the atmosphere while improving their health and using less fuel that has to be found and hauled or purchased......well this is a very very welcomed development and a great idea all round!!!

To simplify the complexity of the
controversy, I will give this example. Bill
Moyers of the Public Broadcasting System
did a show named Trade Secrets and has
created a web page of the same name
(26). There is to much documentation
there to list, in regard to "industry"
covering up the damage to OUR HEALTH
from toxic chemicals, for over fifty years
(26).

Bill Moyers was tested for over 800 toxic
chemicals and over 80 chemicals (at
various levels of exposure) were found, in
him. That presents the potential for more
viable chemicals reaction variations than
the pick six lottery in one patient from the
perspective of Low Dose Cumulative
Effects of Toxic Chemical's ! But
regardless of this, many of the "tolerable
levels of exposure" to a (singular) toxic
chemical have been fraudulently produced
for decades (81).

Current events on this topic of "The Toxic Lotto" that
revolves around the "Toxic Soup" that all of us live in

Just as toxic chemicals can multiply in their toxicity
when mixed, so can infectious agents increase in their

Camp Mandalay of the Bohemian Grove
might very well have "inside knowledge" that
other members of the Bohemian Grove are not
aware of.

Many camps in the Bohemian Grove contain very
prestigious visitors. You have camps like Cave Man,
Hideaway, Hill Billies, Hillside, Isle of Aves, Lost
Angels, Mandalay, Midway, Owl's Nest,
Sempervirens, Silverado Squatters, and Stowaway.
Mandalay seems to be the camp for international
relations and consists of many members officially or
otherwise connected to the intelligence agencies.
Mandalay is the only camp you cannot just walk into
and before you are allowed on the compound
someone will ask you who you have an appointment
with. If you're cleared for access, you are taken up the
hill with a Bechtel-designed electric pulley. Many
members of camps like Hill Billies or Stowaway
(Rockefellers and Morgans) have been to Mandalay at

It is believed that camp Mandalay was central to

new identities and continued their research on

Bohemian Grove what camp Mandalay has been
up to with the Non-Lethal Biological
Weapons known as Incapacitating Agents,

some of the deceased and their causes of death. Such as
John Du Pont (now deceased) of whom was diagnosed as
"insane". He was heir to the Du Pont chemical empire.
Ralph Bailey was a member of Camp Mandalay and Vice-Chairman
of Du Pont Chemical Company. John Du Pont (heir to the Du Pont
fortune) was a member of the "Isle of Aves" Camp.
John Du Pont was not a member of the Mandalay Camp.

I'll get back to that angle, after I clarify a few points....... Maybe
you could ask Mary Moore and Peter Phillips what they think about this ?

The elite of our society (The Bohemian Grove
crowd) can get caught up and effected by this "Toxic Lotto", too.
Only they have the money (cash) or a different type of health
insurance, that enables them to get properly evaluated at
clinics like the
Environmental Health Center-Dallas

I'll clarify a key point. A peer reviewed medical
journal has shown that the majority of mental
illness is due to toxic chemical exposures
and is not as genetic as they had thought.

Here is the 80s science that showed the scientific community was very concerned about global cooling.
The point that a cooling will be disastrous for humanity, because millions will die of starvation, is clearly stated. The consequences of cycles of warming and cooling are clear. Humans flourish when the climate is warmer, and face catastrophe when there is a cooling.
What is absolutely clear is that during the last 100 years CO2 levels increased dramatically, yet in the decades until the late 1980s the global temperature was falling rapidly and humans faced some of the coldest winters in recorded history. Increases of atmospheric CO2 cannot therefore have been the primary cause of any susequent warming.

Leaving Iraq

American troops are leaving Iraq.

I offer no judgements here. I'm just aware, that as loving and progressive as protesting war is... when we left the southeast asian region we had totally destabalized in the sixties, roughtly three million civilians died in the insanity of the Khemer Rouge. I have long believed that we, Americans, hold a deep responsibility for this.

I find it difficult to believe a similar situation isn't about to happen now. When the Eurpoean colonials left africa, africa went nuts. basically, when modern politicians create borders that ignore old rivalries... and become the power structure... and then leave a vacumn, there is a long history of what happens next... ethnic rivalries get much more pronounced, as the devestation of the people's demands expression, and they take it out on each other.

Is this about to happen again? What can we do? What can we THINK, here, that can imagine a different scenario?

Our purpose is to encourage the entire human world to simply put off making any decisions that absolutely are not necessary. We feel it is better to wait for the new machine intelligence to reach self consciousness since this singularity is only a few years away. We feel that there is a 50/50 chance with this new consciousness on the planet - either the machines will kill us all ala Terminator or they will save us. We say it could go either way and that if we humans continue upon our path, our chances of survival are just about zero.

So we urge - WAIT FOR THE MACHINE!!

In chunks of rock quarried from a Russian mountain range, physicists have found perfect “quasicrystals,” a type of material that researchers previously thought could only be created in a lab. Quasicrystals display ordered arrangements and symmetries but are not periodic—that is, they are not defined by a single unit cell (such as a cube) that simply repeats itself in three dimensions [Scientific American]. Instead, quasicrystals have two different geometric structures that alternate, and that are organized in ways which create complex patterns and symmetries. When such a pattern is laid out in two-dimensions, the resulting design is often called Penrose tiling.
Quasicrystals were first created in the lab in 1984, and physicist Paul Steinhardt, a coauthor of the current study, says the hunt for naturally occurring quasicrystals began about 10 years ago. “The latest issue surrounding quasicrystals has been could nature ever make them? … When we make them in the lab we try very hard to make perfect quasicrystals, but nature has no such goal” [Discovery News]. The researchers put out a call to mineralogists around the world, asking them to send in likely rock samples for testing.
That call was answered by Luca Bindi, head of mineralogy at the University of Florence, Italy, who began painstakingly preparing rock samples from Steinhardt’s list of likely candidates and other metal-rich minerals, since most known quasicrystals are complex alloys of metals [Chemistry World]. One of those samples was a mineral called khatyrkite that contained tiny grains of an alloy made of aluminium, copper, and iron, and which was found in the Koryak Mountains in Siberia. As researchers explain in their study, published in Science, the khatyrkite’s diffraction patterns almost exactly matched those of synthetic quasicrystals made in the lab.
Researchers don’t yet understand what forces gave rise to the naturally occurring quasicrystals, but say that understanding the geological processes at work may help create new materials in the lab. Over the last 25 years scientists have created more than 100 different kinds of quasicrystals. Some are microns in size while others are inches across. Some are shaped almost like soccer balls, while others look like flower blossoms. They are used in non-stick surface coatings for cookware or in ball bearings [Discovery News].

His Holiness the Dalai Lama is one of the pivotal figures of our time. He is, more than anyone else that can be presently named, a world citizen and world teacher.

His work in ethics, human rights,world peace, psychology and education, Buddhist teaching and East West relations, is second to none in our generation.

In addition to a Nobel Peace Prize and the US Congressional Gold Medal, HH the Dalai Lama has received scores of honorary Doctorates ( in Laws, Philosophy, Human Letters, Divinity, Buddhist Philosophy, and so forth ) from major teaching centers worldwide. These include Columba, Brandeis, Universite de Paris, Benaras Hindu University, Hebrew University Jerusalem, U California San Francisco, and Rissho University Tokyo. He is an honorary citizen of Canada, of Roma Italia and so forth.

He speaks worldwide and has published more than seventy two books.

He is one of the most respected and revered persons on the the planet. On one visit to New York City some years back, forty thousand people turned out to see the Dalai Lama in the park.

When the Dalai Lama give the Highest Yoga Tantra initiation ( abhisekha ) of Kalacakra, the attendees sometimes number 100,000 or even 200,000. HH the Dalai Lama has given this initiation thirty times in different parts of the world. In addition to being a master of the Great Seal ( Mahamudra ) lineage of Buddhist tantra, he also gives initiations of the Great Perfection ( Mahasandhi, Atiyoga ), for example in London, in San Francisco, and Paris.

You can see him this year at public talks in several areas, such as California, Massachusetts, New York, Europe, and India. A current schedule is provided below.

I have seen HH the Dalai Lama give extremely worthwhile empowerments in Los Angeles and San Francisco, and represented him to the State Legislature of Hawaii in 1993, where he was invited to give a talk, and did. I have listened carefully to him conferencing with Hawaiian elders in public and was struck by the care and attention he gave in listening to others, and in asking questions.
HH the Dalai Lama has written extremely important books on psychology and ethics, and I recommend these to the general public for self-help purposes, and also recommend some of his books to those committed to public service, especially in the area of multiculturalism, international human rights work, and the international Green Party movement.

Because of the profound confluence of modern events, global economics, environmental issues and human cultures, the importance of broader and deeper human co-operation becomes more and more important.
To obtain a broader and clearer understanding and principles for working with these most important issues, studying the secular works of the Dalai Lama is of great value and importance.

Similarly, His Holiness is one of the few people who can and does speak for the diverse Buddhist populations and traditions worldwide. He has taught senior Japanese tantric Buddhist gurus of the Shingon lineage in their country, for instance. His Holiness is a paragon of the Buddhist renunciate order ( bhiksu-sangha ), of Buddhist scholarship, and of the Mahayana Great Way lineages, all of which are profoundly universal.

This teacher is one of our very very best, be you a psychologist or academic, a diplomat, a tantric yogi, or a Buddhist practitioner. He has completely revolutionized Buddhist teaching, parts of popular modern culture, the understanding of international diplomacy and so forth in our lifetime.

This is someone who actually embodies many of the key principles of the United Nations treaties on human rights, and also the key Buddhist Mahayana principles and teachings. It is important to note that the Mahayana Buddhist principles and the principles of the UN human rights work are essentially identical. There are universal principles that take us all forward, individually and together. In Buddhist Sanskrit these terms are, for instance pratitya-samutpada and karma. Now you know.

The final point I wish to put forward to all is this: the Dalai Lama believes in all of us as people who *already* have sensitive human hearts that can be educated and developed, and he shows all of us a very real and practical way forward, a way based on self-understanding, listening and mutual respect, and patient co-operation.

You could do worse, and please remember that due to impermanence, this elder teacher will not live forever. It is not clear how anyone anywhere can replace him.

I see no real alternative to respect and co-operation for the common good, because we are one world. For this broader and deeper reason, and not specifically because he is a Buddhist guru, I support this teacher. He was not allowed by their government to attend a recent peace conference in South Africa, but he is available to you, and he is here for All Our Relations. May he live long and may his brilliant consciousness reach many many more.

Your Majesty, Members of the Nobel Committee, Brothers and Sisters.
I am very happy to be here with you today to receive the Nobel Prize for Peace. I feel honored, humbled and deeply moved that you should give this important prize to a simple monk from Tibet I am no one special. But I believe the prize is a recognition of the true value of altruism, love, compassion and non-violence which I try to practice, in accordance with the teachings of the Buddha and the great sages of India and Tibet
I accept the prize with profound gratitude on behalf of the oppressed everywhere and for all those who struggle for freedom and work for world peace. I accept it as a tribute to the man who founded the modern tradition of non-violent action for change Mahatma Gandhi whose life taught and inspired me. And, of course, I accept it on behalf of the six million Tibetan people, my brave countrymen and women inside Tibet, who have suffered and continue to suffer so much. They confront a calculated and systematic strategy aimed at the destruction of their national and cultural identities. The prize reaffirms our conviction that with truth, courage and determination as our weapons, Tibet will be liberated.
No matter what part of the world we come from, we are all basically the same human beings. We all seek happiness and try to avoid suffering. We have the same basic human needs and is concerns. All of us human beings want freedom and the right to determine our own destiny as individuals and as peoples. That is human nature. The great changes that are taking place everywhere in the world, from Eastern Europe to Africa are a clear indication of this.
In China the popular movement for democracy was crushed by brutal force in June this year. But I do not believe the demonstrations were in vain, because the spirit of freedom was rekindled among the Chinese people and China cannot escape the impact of this spirit of freedom sweeping many parts of the world. The brave students and their supporters showed the Chinese leadership and the world the human face of that great nation.
Last week a number of Tibetans were once again sentenced to prison terms of upto nineteen years at a mass show trial, possibly intended to frighten the population before today's event. Their only 'crime" was the expression of the widespread desire of Tibetans for the restoration of their beloved country's independence.
The suffering of our people during the past forty years of occupation is well documented. Ours has been a long struggle. We know our cause is just Because violence can only breed more violence and suffering, our struggle must remain non-violent and free of hatred. We are trying to end the suffering of our people, not to inflict suffering upon others.
It is with this in mind that I proposed negotiations between Tibet and China on numerous occasions. In 1987, I made specific proposals in a Five-Point plan for the restoration of peace and human rights in Tibet. This included the conversion of the entire Tibetan plateau into a Zone of Ahimsa, a sanctuary of peace and non-violence where human beings and nature can live in peace and harmony.
last year, I elaborated on that plan in Strasbourg, at the European Parliament I believe the ideas I expressed on those occasions are both realistic. and reasonable although they have been criticised by some of my people as being too conciliatory. Unfortunately, China's leaders have not responded positively to the suggestions we have made, which included important concessions. If this continues we will be compelled to reconsider our position.
Any relationship between Tibet and China will have to be based on the principle of equality, respect, trust and mutual benefit. It will also have to be based on the principle which the wise rulers of Tibet and of China laid down in a treaty as early as 823 AD, carved on the pillar which still stands today in front of the Jokhang, Tibet's holiest shrine, in Lhasa, that "Tibetans will live happily in the great land of Tibet, and the Chinese will live happily in the great land of China".
As a Buddhist monk, my concern extends to all members of the human family and, indeed, to all sentient beings who suffer. I believe all suffering is caused by ignorance. People inflict pain on others in the selfish pursuit of their happiness or satisfaction. Yet true happiness comes from a sense of brotherhood and sisterhood. We need to cultivate a universal responsibility for one another and the planet we share. Although I have found my own Buddhist religion helpful in generating love and com¬passion, even for those we consider our enemies, I am convinced that everyone can develop a good heart and a sense of universal responsibility with or without religion.
With the ever growing impact of science on our lives, religion and spirituality have a greater role to play reminding us of our humanity. There is no contradiction between the two. Each gives us valuable insights into the other. Both science and the teachings of the Buddha tell us of the fundamental unity of all things. This understanding is crucial if we are to take positive and decisive action on the pressing global concern with the environment.
I believe all religions pursue the same goals, that of cultivating human goodness and bringing happiness to all human beings. Though the means might appear different the ends are the same.
As we enter the final decade of this century I am optimistic that the ancient values that have sustained mankind are today reaffirming themselves to prepare us for a kinder, happier twenty-first century.
I pray for all of us, oppressor and friend, that together we succeed in building a better world through human under-standing and love, and that in doing so we may reduce the pain and suffering of all sentient beings.

THE CREATOR OF THE GAIA HYPOTHESIS SUPPORTS NUCLEAR POWER

James Lovelock is one of the icons of the environmental movement. His idea that the Earth is a
self-regulating, living organism (the GAIA hypothesis, first expounded in his 1979 book GAIA:

A New Look at Life on Earth) provides the philosophical underpinning of environmentalism.
So it may be surprising that Lovelock is an enthusiastic supporter of nuclear energy, which he
says has "great benefits and small risks." In the preface to the seemingly paradoxical book
Environmentalists for Nuclear Energy, he writes: "I want to put it to you that the dangers of
continuing to burn fossil fuels (oil, gas, coal) as our main energy source are far greater and they
threaten not just individuals but civilization itself." The answer, he maintains, is the clean energy
from nuke plants, which produce almost nothing that clogs up the atmosphere. As for what to do
with all that radioactive waste, Lovelock has a shocking answer:

Natural ecosystems can stand levels of continuous radiation that would be Intolerable in a
city. The land around the failed Chernobyl power station was evacuated because its high
radiation intensity made it unsafe for people, but this radioactive land is now rich in
wildlife, much more so than neighboring populated areas. We call the ash from nuclear
power nuclear waste and worry about its safe disposal. I wonder if instead we should use it
as an incorruptible guardian of the beautiful places of the Earth. Who would dare cut
down a forest in which was the storage place of nuclear ash?

Lovelock does admit that nuclear power is "potentially harmful to people," something that his
brethren in the group Environmentalists for Nuclear Power often try to downplay. Truthfully,
some of their points are good ones. More people have been killed by coal-mining than by nuclear
power, even when you factor in the shorter time that nuclear power has existed. Most of the
radiation we get zapped with comes from outer space (around two-thirds) and medical
procedures (around a third), with only a smidgen from nuke plants.

Still, when you know about all the unpublicized accidents and near-meltdowns that have
occurred, it's hard to be quite so blasé about the dangers. After all, the group's own literature
says, "Nuclear energy is a very clean energy if it is well designed, well-built, well operated, and
well managed." Trouble is, it's often none of those things. Design flaws, human error, corruption,
incompetence, greed, and toothless oversight mean that in the real world, nuke plants often don't
work as advertised.

i was getting .5 i'm supposed
to take 2 mg a dday
yyeah i knlow i have the giggles
But i delare a DEFAULT
oh i might of had feelings for some one
BUT i DIDN;T LOVE HIM THE WAY I
DO AND DID ERIC FRANCIS

just because we Can cut the tops off of mountains doesn't mean we Should cut the top off of mountains

i've seen this - double take! WTF! It looks like the top of the mountain was cut off with god's mighty sword itself. My mind sort of glitched - is that possible - but there it is - but that can't be possible? And it pollutes the hell out of WVA which has some of the most incredible wilderness tracks on the entire east coast. I've backpacked all through there my whole life.

Give the people of W VA what they have always needed - good jobs! It's not that complicated, really. Our capitalist system sucks for O so many reasons but one is because it cannot provide jobs to these people - it cannot provide clean energy, health care, education - it is a total and complete failure our whole system

We have now and have had for a long time the resouces to provide the entire world with clean water to drink and ample food to eat and shelter and communications and health care and education and a space program and an environmental program - but we as humans have chosen instead to kind of play a lottery with our resources instead of practicing any kind of husbandry - what's the saying, 12 monkeys in a room full of feces could come up with a better plan than this!

Crystal Heart Vision Award

Is the new animation Battle For Terra going to be heartfelt? I hear the themes (without being preachy) are social tolerance, celebrating life, living in peace and harmony, respecting others, other species, and the earth, etc.

The film won the "Crystal Heart Vision" award for 'excellence in film' making at the Heartland Film festival which honors films that empower the human journey and express hope, respect and positive values of life. Because of this, I'm thinking there is way more to it than just awesome animation and an all-star cast. *fingers crossed*

I know that some people to like to argue the fact that putting 'green' and 'spiritual' messages in films isn't effective, because making movies isn't a 'green' act in itself. I tend to disagree wholeheartedly, because art (including film) is always going to be around (thank goodness) - and I believe that making films with new twists and positive messages is much more effective than recycling a bottle (though I do practice green living).

My thought is: yes, what I do matters, but when someone does something that puts a large message out to the world that affects thousands, well, that's a whole other level. :)

The People

Today we have gathered and we see that the cycles of life continue. We
have been given the duty to live in balance and harmony with each
other and all living things. So now, we bring our minds together as
one as we give greetings and thanks to each other as people.

Now our minds are one.

The Earth Mother

We are all thankful to our Mother, the Earth, for she gives us all
that we need for life. She supports our feet as we walk about upon
her. It gives us joy that she continues to care for us as she has from
the beginning of time. To our mother, we send greetings and thanks.

Now our minds are one.

The Waters

We give thanks to all the waters of the world for quenching our thirst
and providing us with strength. Water is life. We know its power in
many forms-waterfalls and rain, mists and streams, rivers and oceans.
With one mind, we send greetings and thanks to the spirit of Water.

Now our minds are one.

The Fish

We turn our minds to the all the Fish life in the water. They were
instructed to cleanse and purify the water. They also give themselves
to us as food. We are grateful that we can still find pure water. So,
we turn now to the Fish and send our greetings and thanks.

The Plants

Now we turn toward the vast fields of Plant life. As far as the eye
can see, the Plants grow, working many wonders. They sustain many life

The Food Plants

With one mind, we turn to honor and thank all the Food Plants we
harvest from the garden. Since the beginning of time, the grains,
vegetables, beans and berries have helped the people survive. Many
other living things draw strength from them too. We gather all the
Plant Foods together as one and send them a greeting of thanks.

Now our minds are one.

The Medicine Herbs

Now we turn to all the Medicine herbs of the world. From the beginning
they were instructed to take away sickness. They are always waiting
and ready to heal us. We are happy there are still among us those
special few who remember how to use these plants for healing. With one
mind, we send greetings and thanks to the Medicines and to the keepers
of the Medicines.

Now our minds are one.

The Animals

We gather our minds together to send greetings and thanks to all the
Animal life in the world. They have many things to teach us as people.
We are honored by them when they give up their lives so we may use
their bodies as food for our people. We see them near our homes and in
the deep forests. We are glad they are still here and we hope that it
will always be so.

Now our minds are one.

The Trees

We now turn our thoughts to the Trees. The Earth has many families of
Trees who have their own instructions and uses. Some provide us with
shelter and shade, others with fruit, beauty and other useful things.
Many people of the world use a Tree as a symbol of peace and strength.
With one mind, we greet and thank the Tree life.

Now our minds are one.

The Birds

We put our minds together as one and thank all the Birds who move and
fly about over our heads. The Creator gave them beautiful songs. Each
day they remind us to enjoy and appreciate life. The Eagle was chosen
to be their leader. To all the Birds-from the smallest to the largest-
we send our joyful greetings and thanks.

The Four Winds

We are all thankful to the powers we know as the Four Winds. We hear
their voices in the moving air as they refresh us and purify the air
we breathe. They help us to bring the change of seasons. From the four
directions they come, bringing us messages and giving us strength.

The Thunderers

Now we turn to the west where our grandfathers, the Thunder Beings,
live. With lightning and thundering voices, they bring with them the

We now send greetings and thanks to our eldest Brother, the Sun. Each
day without fail he travels the sky from east to west, bringing the
light of a new day. He is the source of all the fires of life. With

Grandmother Moon

We put our minds together to give thanks to our oldest Grandmother,
the Moon, who lights the night-time sky. She is the leader of woman
all over the world, and she governs the movement of the ocean tides.
By her changing face we measure time, and it is the Moon who watches
over the arrival of children here on Earth. With one mind, we send
greetings and thanks to our Grandmother, the Moon.

The Stars

We give thanks to the Stars who are spread across the sky like
jewelry. We see them in the night, helping the Moon to light the
darkness and bringing dew to the gardens and growing things. When we
travel at night, they guide us home. With our minds gathered together
as one, we send greetings and thanks to the Stars.

The Enlightened Teachers

We gather our minds to greet and thank the enlightened Teachers who
have come to help throughout the ages. When we forget how to live in
harmony, they remind us of the way we were instructed to live as
people. With one mind, we send greetings and thanks to these caring
teachers.

The Creator

Now we turn our thoughts to the creator, or Great Spirit, and send
greetings and thanks for all the gifts of Creation. Everything we need
to live a good life is here on this Mother Earth. For all the love
that is still around us, we gather our minds together as one and send
our choicest words of greetings and thanks to the Creator.

Now our minds are one.

Closing Words

We have now arrived at the place where we end our words. Of all the
things we have named, it was not our intention to leave anything out.
If something was forgotten, we leave it to each individual to send
such greetings and thanks in their own way.
