Join the new “Cool Earth Party” tribe
The Democrats and Republicans are the paid agents of the oil, armament, and insurance industries. Their continued rule of America will assure a future of more imperialist war, a healthcare system that doesn't work, and no meaningful action on global warming (the single biggest threat to the future of humanity and a healthy planet).
The Cool Earth Party is being established on the principles of revolutionary democratic socialism. We call for an end to the dictatorial power of the wealthy through the nationalization of major industries and for the establishment of a planned economy run to meet human and environmental needs. This socialist society must be established within the framework of full democratic freedoms and multi-party proportional democracy. To be truly Democratic all parties running in elections will be legally guaranteed equal time in the media, big campaign spending will be outlawed, and electronic voting machines (which are presently used to rig American elections) will be eliminated.
Upon taking power the Cool Earth Party will establish a system of socialized medicine for the United States, end all U.S. military occupations of other countries, end U.S. military aid to repressive governments, and nationalize the auto and energy industries to carry out immediate emergency measures to drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Re: Join the new “Cool Earth Party” tribe
Sat, April 19, 2008 - 9:46 PMGee, socialism sounds like a good idea. Let's bring it home to America.
We could have Gulags like in the USSR. We could force a million people out of their homes so there could be pretty landscapes for the Olympics, like in China. Let's crash our economy like Chavez is doing in Venezuela. And let's enjoy terrific freedoms and 1950's cars as in Cuba. And of course the socialists of Mussolini's Italy and Hitler's fascist Germany were a barrel of fun. (I'm sorry, you do know that both hitler and El Duche were socialists don't you ?) ....And did you ever happen to cross the Iron Curtain from free West Ger. to socialist East Ger. during the 50's, 60's and 70's. I did. --Now there was a fine study in the benefits of a good (Communist) Socialist state. And it sure would be a good thing to kill a couple million intellectuals in the US like the socialists did in Cambodia. Plus, if we commit to real socialism like in N. Korea, we could really enjoy Spring by adding some nice fresh grass clippings to our usual diet of...nothing.
And speaking of Spring. Let's celebrate by offing some Buddist's like them jolly socialists are now doing in Tibet.
Yup, let's all be Cool. Let's all jump on the socialist band wagon. It's never ever worked anywhere it's been tried, but if we would just give it one more chance, I'm sure American know how could make a go of it. -

Re: Join the new “Cool Earth Party” tribe
Sun, April 20, 2008 - 10:03 AMJim makes many absurd rightwing attacks.
For starters, Hitler and Mussolini weren't socialists, they were fascists who murdered the socialists, and the socialists fought against them.
Chavez has improved the Venezuelan economy increasing the minimum wage, reducing poverty, and providing education and healthcare.
Likewise, Cuba has been praised by the World Wildlife Fund as the only country in the world with passing environmental policies and has a life expectancy longer than the United States due to socialized healthcare. Despite these and many other improvements from the days the Cuban people suffered under the U.S. backed Batista dictatorship, the Cuban people do however lack democracy, and this is not something the Cool Earth Party agrees with Cuba on in our platform.
I could go on responding to these absurd rightwing attacks, but let me finish by saying it is our socialist movement that will bring democracy to America. As is stated in our program:
"This socialist society must be established within the framework of full democratic freedoms and multi-party proportional democracy. To be truly Democratic all parties running in elections will be legally guaranteed equal time in the media, big campaign spending will be outlawed, and electronic voting machines (which are presently used to rig American elections) will be eliminated."

Re: Join the new “Cool Earth Party” tribe
Tue, April 22, 2008 - 12:01 PMOh-h-h, Steve, tut tut.
Talk about absurdity. A self-proclaimed socialist who knows nothing about socialist history.
The National Socialist German Workers Party, led by Hitler, (NADAP, aka Nazi's), was founded in 1919. It was a nationalist socialist political party. The Falangist's, (Franko), were a Spanish one party rule socialist party. The Fascist's of Italy, (1922-1945), led by life long socialist Mussolini, (following in his father's foot steps), were an industrialist socialist party. The Marxist's of the USSR were an internationalist socialist party. The Maoist's of China were, and still are, an internationalist socialist party. And of course the nut jobs of Cuba and Venezuela, are socialist dictatorships.
The history of the 20th Century is replete with various socialist political parties, who seized control in their various nations, and in every case, led to the death of millions of innocent people.
So tell us, what kind of socialism do you seek to impose on America ? Nationalist, internationalist, dictatorship "of the prolitariat", one man, one party rule ? Any you can name have been criminal regimes which have caused untold suffering, lose and pain.
...As for me, I'm happy with the freedom's of our Constitutional Republic !!
It's brought more freedom and prosperity to more people than any other political system ever conceived of and tried in human history. -

Re: Join the new “Cool Earth Party” tribe
Tue, April 22, 2008 - 9:25 PMOh, and by the way, Steve.
Of course the Nazi's killed socialist's. Socialists always end up killing lots of of people, if they are able to stay in power long enough.
...In this particular case, the National Socialist's killed lots of Internationalist Socialist's. The NADAP also killed many of their own kind of socialists, the members of the Brown Shirts, (S.A).
Socialists around the world have also killed millions of Jews, Ukranians, Georgians and any other undesirables in the USSR. Millions of poor and peasants in China, and tens of thousands in Tibet. The socialists also killed millions of intellectuals, teachers, middle and upper class people in Cambodia. And of course there was the "cleansing" of Laos and Vietnam by the NVA after the US and allies won the V. War militarily but lost it at home politically. ....And the list goes on.
Yes sir, let's hear it for the good old boy Cool Socialists. Hooray for those cool guys, Stalin, Mao, Castro, Uncle Ho, Tito, Marx Baby, the scum Che, Hitler, Franko, El Duche, Chavez. And a special hooray for Lenin, on his birthday today.
.......And if you listen closely, you can just hear the cries of the hundred million or so dead in their mass graves or oven ashes, "yeah, hooray for the socialists". -

Re: Join the new “Cool Earth Party” tribe
Wed, April 23, 2008 - 5:49 AMYou folks really need to learn actual history. Instead of the perjudices you were taught in college, do some reading. Read Mein Kampf by A. Hitler. ..His words as a socialist. Read about the killing fields of Cambodia. ..Or watch the movie if reading is a stretch. Read Trotsky's books, a nice socialist gentleman who got an ice pick in the back by another nice socialist sent by Lenin. Or more currently, read what the opposition in Venezuela has to say about the repressions of the "cool" Chavez. Just look at the Chernobel disaster, or the pollution over China. Those nice folks are forcing a million people to move so the areas surrounding this summers Olympics look nicer. The Chinese socialists are going to temporarily shut down their polluting factories so the athlete's can breathe.
For God's sake, learn from history, or repeat it. There's never been a good long term socialist gov't. That bankrupt idealogy has been proven evil time and again.
Folks, this is a discussion group about Earth. We would all do much better if we sought ways to connect with Earth, to become more a part of or more in tune with Earth. It is the socialist's of the eastern block of the Soviet Union, and the USSR itself, and the socialists of China who have done more to destroy the environment than any other people in history. ...Why would you want to ultimately follow in their footsteps ? -

Re: Join the new “Cool Earth Party” tribe
Wed, April 23, 2008 - 10:42 AMThe capitalist class is rushing at break-neck speed to destroy the planet. Without socialism we will not save the earth. This is what I believe.
And no, I am not promoting fascism or Nazism. Nor was fascism or "national socialism" any form of socialism. It was a movement made up largely of angry small capitalists who blamed unions, socialists, and Jews for the problems caused by a bad economy. As opposed to seeing socialism as the solution, they were the most radical defenders of capitalism.
Nor am I promoting Stalinism. Stalinism arose out of a socialist movement that didn't understand the central importance of democracy and human rights in a socialist society.
As for Pol Pot, I have always denounced the United States for giving him aid, and supported the Vietnamese invasion of Cambodia that got rid of him. -

Re: Join the new “Cool Earth Party” tribe
Thu, April 24, 2008 - 2:27 PMThe problem with the various political labels that you use is that you just don't know what they actually are.
One of the most influential and world changing political parties of the 20th Century was the NSDAP, or National Socialist German Workers Party, (aka Nazie's). They were socialist by their own name, word and deed. This is fact. It can not be disputed in any factual way. You may not like it, you can deny it. But they were what they were.
What has happened since the 1960's is that a variety of American and Western ideologue's have tried to label nazism as a "right wing" idealogy. They didn't want it to be known as it properly is, a leftist nationalist dictatorship. It was and is embarrasing to them to have to properly identify their own socialist beliefs with such a hatefilled and criminal socialist state. You have apparently fallen for this falsehood. If you are going to proclaim socialism as a solution, then you had better understand what socialism, in all it's many forms, has actually "accomplished" in the world.
Likewise, you apparently don't understand what capitalism is. It is an economic system in which all or most of the means of production and distribution are privately owned and operated. You also don't understand what it isn't. What capitalism isn't, is a particular ideology or political system. Any state or any ideology can be Capitalist. In democracies there is a certain freedom of economic endevor. In dictatorships, privately owned translates as privately owned by members of the ruling elite's. A current example of this is China, that great paragon of Socialism. China is a totally centrally controlled society that is also Capitalist. All the means of production and distribution is managed or controlled or allowed to exist by the central authority. While there currently appears to be a growing class of enterpreneurs, every one of them is allowed to do business only with the permission of the state. A Chinese Capitalist who displeases the State quickly loses his head. ...As has happened fairly often of late with the beheadings of the various lead paint toy makers.
Finally, and by far most importantly, there is no ideology or political entity that can or will "save the Earth". Earth could care less what we humans do. We are irrelevant. Earth has existed for billions of years, at times as a ball of fire, at times ice covered. Dinosaurs have come and mostly gone. So shall we humans. And thru it all, Earth will continue.
What you are advocating, right or wrong, is mearly a possible way for humans to survive. What you are advocating has been proven a failure time and time again, but never the less, your proposal has only to do with the survival of humans. Not with the survival of Earth.
So please, if you are going to advocate for some brand of politics or other, do some study and first learn what the various terms and idealogies actually mean. I don't think that anything you or others propose of a political nature will amount to a hill of beans, Earth will and is finding her own solutions to whatever bothers her. But, at least, if you use correct terms as you fail "to save Earth", you can speak with with a little more "authority". -

Re: Join the new “Cool Earth Party” tribe
Fri, April 25, 2008 - 11:49 AMJim, my terminology is correct.
Once again Jim, as I've stated: "National socialism", or Nazism, has nothing in common with socialism, and I have nothing in common with Nazism. I'm sick of you trying to paint me with that absurd brush. What I am advocating is revolutionary democratic socialism, the opposite of fascism.
If you'd like to read a socialist analysis of what fascism was at the time it was on the rise in Germany you should read Leon Trotsky's "FASCISM What It Is and How To Fight It". www.marxists.org/archive/t...44-fas.htm
"The fascist movement in Italy was a spontaneous movement of large masses, with new leaders from the rank and file. It is a plebian movement in origin, directed and financed by big capitalist powers." ....
"The movement in Germany is analogous mostly to the Italian. It is a mass movement, with its leaders employing a great deal of socialist demagogy. This is necessary for the creation of the mass movement." ....
"From fascism the bourgeoisie demands a thorough job; once it has resorted to methods of civil war, it insists on having peace for a period of years. And the fascist agency, by utilizing the petty bourgeoisie as a battering ram, by overwhelming all obstacles in its path, does a thorough job. After fascism is victorious, finance capital directly and immediately gathers into its hands, as in a vise of steel, all the organs and institutions of sovereignty, the executive administrative, and educational powers of the state: the entire state apparatus together with the army, the municipalities, the universities, the schools, the press, the trade unions, and the co-operatives. When a state turns fascist, it does not mean only that the forms and methods of government are changed in accordance the patterns set by Mussolini -- the changes in this sphere ultimately play a minor role -- but it means first of all for the most part that the workers' organizations are annihilated; that the proletariat is reduced to an amorphous state; and that a system of administration is created which penetrates deeply into the masses and which serves to frustrate the independent crystallization of the proletariat. Therein precisely is the gist of fascism...." Leon Trotsky 1930
Jim also claims that there is no such thing as a capitalist political system. Capitalism is more than just an economic system with the means of production in private hands, and an extreme concentration of wealth in a few capitalists’ hands. It is also a political system where the big capitalists control the major media, politicians, courts, and cops. That's what we live under today.
And yes, China is also a capitalist country.
Jim also claims, "What you are advocating, right or wrong, is mearly [sic] a possible way for humans to survive." No, it is a possible way for most of the species of the planet to survive including humans, most of which will be lost in the coming mass extinction if we continue on the path we are on. -

Re: Join the new “Cool Earth Party” tribe
Fri, April 25, 2008 - 1:04 PMHere is another good quote from Trotsky on the struggle against fascism in Germany:
"Fascism has opened up the depths of society for politics. Today, not only in peasant homes but also in the city skyscrapers, there lives alongside of the 20th century the 10th or 13th. A hundred million people use electricity and still believe in the magic power of signs and exorcisms. What inexhaustible reserves they possess of darkness, ignorance, and savagery! Despair has raised them to their feet, fascism has given them a banner. Everything that should have been eliminated from the national organism in the course of the
unhindered development of society comes out today gushing from the throat: capitalist society is puking up the undigested barbarism. Such is the physiology of National Socialism...Fascism has become a real danger as an acute expression of the helpless position of the bourgeois regime, the conservative role of the Social Democracy in this regime, and the accumulated powerlessness of the Communist Party to abolish it... Worker-communists, you are hundreds of thousands, millions; you cannot leave for anywhere; there are not enough passports for you. Should fascism come to power, it will ride over your skulls and spines like a terrific tank. Your salvation lies in merciless struggle. And only a fighting unity with the Social Democratic workers can bring victory."
