And here is the 80s science that showed the scientific community was very concerned about global cooling.
The point that a cooling will be disastrous for humanity, because millions will die of starvation, is clearly stated. The consequences of cycles of warming and cooling are clear. Humans flourish when the climate is warmer, and face catastrophe when there is a cooling.
What is absolutely clear is that during the last 100 years CO2 levels increased dramatically, yet in the decades until the 1980s the global temperature was falling rapidly and humans faced some of the coldest winters in recorded history. Increases of atmospheric CO2 cannot therefore have been the primary cause of any subsequent warming!

I told you ...History is not kind to climate denialist...

But i find it far more interesting to check the story about the people that got it right...

In hot water: World sets ocean temperature record

Swimming in warm waters of ... Maine? Summer seas seem on boil as oceans smash heat records

By Seth Borenstein, AP Science Writer
On Thursday August 20, 2009, 6:01 pm EDT
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Steve Kramer spent an hour and a half swimming in the ocean Sunday -- in Maine.

The water temperature was 72 degrees -- more like Ocean City, Md., this time of year. And Ocean City's water temp hit 88 degrees this week, toasty even by Miami Beach standards.

Kramer, 26, who lives in the seaside town of Scarborough, said it was the first time he's ever swam so long in Maine's coastal waters. "Usually, you're in five minutes and you're out," he said.

It's not just the ocean off the Northeast coast that is super-warm this summer. July was the hottest the world's oceans have been in almost 130 years of record-keeping.

The average water temperature worldwide was 62.6 degrees, according to the National Climatic Data Center, the branch of the U.S. government that keeps world weather records. That was 1.1 degree higher than the 20th century average, and beat the previous high set in 1998 by a couple hundredths of a degree. The coolest recorded ocean temperature was 59.3 degrees in December 1909.

Meteorologists said there's a combination of forces at work this year: A natural El Nino system just getting started on top of worsening man-made global warming, and a dash of random weather variations. The resulting ocean heat is already harming threatened coral reefs. It could also hasten the melting of Arctic sea ice and help hurricanes strengthen.

            Rising acidity erodes Alaska's fisheries
            Friday, August 21 2009

Alaska's marine waters - source of 60 percent of the United States' seafood harvest - show surprising impact as greenhouse emissions undermine the base of the food web.

A fisherman reaches for a crab pot in Alaska's Bering Sea. New research suggests ocean acidification stemming from climate change will be particularly problematic for the Arctic.

            By Douglas Fischer
            Daily Climate Editor

The Arctic's increased vulnerability to climate change is not limited to higher temperatures and melting permafrost.

New research from the University of Alaska Fairbanks suggests Arctic oceans are particularly susceptible to acidification, with potentially dire consequences to Alaska's rich crab and salmon fisheries.

"Everything is acting in unison on the environment – it's not just the ice loss or the warming or the acidification," said UAF chemical oceanographer Jeremy Mathis. "The Arctic is taking a multilateral hit."

Taken from this site and page: www.green-agenda.com/greenland.html

"In AD 1000, the Earth was experiencing an episode of climate warming similar to that of the present day. Temperatures in many parts of the world seem to have risen by at least two or three degrees Fahrenheit. Although the scale of this "global warming" may seem small, its effects on human societies were profound. In Europe, several centuries of long hot summers led to an almost unbroken string of good harvests, and both urban and rural populations began to grow. These centuries are known as the Medieval Warm Period. One of the more dramatic consequences of the Medieval Warm Period was the expansion of Viking settlements in the North Atlantic. From their Icelandic base (established in AD 870), the Norse people began to move west and north to Greenland, Canada, and eventually above the Arctic Circle."
            rutgerspress.rutgers.edu/Autho...t.html

"The Medieval Warm Period was a time of warm weather around 800-1300 AD, during the European Medieval period. Initial research on the MWP and the following Little Ice Age (LIA) was largely done in Europe, where the phenomenon was most obvious and clearly documented. The Vikings took advantage of ice-free seas to colonize Greenland and other outlying lands of the far north."
            en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medi...arm_Period

"The climate at this time was very warm, much warmer than it is today, and crops were able to do well. It seems likely that the name "Greenland" was given to the country, not just as wishful thinking, but because it was a climatic fact at that time. The mild climatic period was fairly short-lived in geologic terms - by about 1200 AD, the ever-increasing cold was making life extremely difficult, and some years no supply ships were able to reach Greenland through the ice-choked seas. During this period, Norway had assumed responsibility for supplying the Norse settlers in Greenland, but as the climate worsened it became a very difficult task."
            explorenorth.com/library/w...121799.htm

"At that time, the inner regions of the long fjords where the settlements where located were very different from today. Excavations show that there were considerable birch woods with trees up to 4 to 6 meters high in the area around the inner parts of the Tunuliarfik- and Aniaaq-fjords, the central area of the Eastern settlement, and the hills were grown with grass and willow brushes. This was due to the medieval climate optimum. The Norse soon changed the vegetation by cutting down the trees to use as building material and for heating and by extensive sheep and goat grazing during summer and winter. The climate in Greenland was much warmer during the first centuries of settlement but became increasingly colder in the 14th and 15th centuries with the approaching period of colder weather known as the Little Ice Age."
            en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hist..._Greenland

"The Medieval Warm Period coincides with the Vikings' settlement of Greenland, Iceland and possibly North America. Farmsteads with dairy cattle, pigs, sheep and goats were prevalent in Iceland and along the southern coast of Greenland. Even England was able to compete economically with France in wine production. On the other hand, agriculture steadily declined at higher latitudes during the Little Ice Age, while mortality rates and famines increased. By 1500, settlements in Greenland had vanished and the inhabitants of Iceland were struggling to survive."
            www.ncpa.org/pub/ba450/

"During the 9th & 10th centuries the Vikings reached Iceland and Greenland during the milder condition that prevailed during Medieval Warm Period. Norse settlers arrived in Iceland in the 9th and Greenland in the 10th century with an agricultural practice based on milk, meat and fibre from cattle, sheep, and goats. The settlers were attracted by green fields and a relatively good climate and driven there by population pressures in Scandinavia. They were able to sail to Iceland and Greenland as well as Labrador because of a decrease in sea ice in the North Atlantic."
            www.eh-resources.org/timelin..._me.html

"The Medieval Warm Period was a time of unusually warm climate in Europe from about 850 until 1250 AD. The warm climate overlaps with a time of high solar activity called the Medieval Maximum. The warmer climate caused historic events such as the spread of Viking settlements in Northern Europe. The Vikings were likely better able to explore and colonize many areas in Northern Europe during this time because the warm climate. They traveled by boats to Greenland among other places through seas that, with cooler climates are typically full of dangerous sea ice. During this time, grape vineyards, which require moderate temperatures and a long growing season, were as far north as England. In comparison, today grapes vineyards are only typically as far north as France in Europe."
            www.windows.ucar.edu/tour/li...l&text=t

"Between the 9th and 14th century there was a "Medieval Warm Period", when the average temperature in the Northern Hemisphere reached its highest point in the past 4,000 years, which was only about 1°C higher than at present. It has been documented that during this period, American oysters (Crassostrea virginica) and bay scallops (Aequipecten irradiens) formed populations as far north as Sable Island. Neither of these species exists there today. Radiocarbon dating of relict oyster and bay scallop shells compare reasonably well with the dates of the post-glacial warm period. From the 16th to the 19th century there was a "Little Ice Age", when the average temperature of the Northern Hemisphere was a degree or two cooler than now. It is during this time that salmon are hypothesized to have relocated to the New England area. Salmon may have migrated from Europe after the end of the Pleistocene, across the Atlantic. Immediately prior to the Little Ice Age, the Medieval Warm Period diminished sea pack ice around Iceland and Greenland."

Well here's a blog from a woman from Madagascar, remarking how snow has returned for the first time to this area since 1900!
          vdomoina.blogspot.com/2009/08...car.html

It seems that the Northern and Southern Hemispheres are quite different. The North is fluctuating from warm to cool, while the South is getting steadily cooler, with snows where they have never fallen before and record cold temperatures in various continents over the last few years.
So, this can only mean that there is NOT 'global' warming, only regional warming.

When these facts about cooling are coupled with the facts that thousands of well-qualified scientists around the world are saying categorically that the trend is cooler and that the IPCC are wrong about CO2 causing the changes, that the El Nino affecting the oceans now is caused by Solar fluctuation, then it should be obvious (to all but the mentally deficient) that there is NO CONSENSUS and the models from the IPCC and others are wrong.

Which means that it is immoral to go on supporting Al Gore and his thirst for billions through the false 'carbon credit' schemes. It is even more serious to support the fake global 'carbon credit' schemes being a speculative global currency of a new Bank of the World, as is being proposed. In these ways those who support the AGW theory are willing stooges of the criminal NWO and the theft of sovereignty and self-determination of peoples around the globe!

              That was 'scraping the barrel'!

As one of the comments says, the problem is the extreme deforestation which can be seen quite clearly in the film.
When trees are cut down so much the ground cannot hold water. Springs dry up and the land dies. The rains, when they come, can't penetrate the ground because of ignorant farming methods and the problems are compounded.
I have seen land in areas of consistent high rainfall where the forest has been felled and grazing animals eat off all new trees, the land loses its fertility and becomes barren, there is serious erosion with the continuing rain and the hillsides slump, exposing rock where once was forest. I have personally seen this in the UK, Europe, Mexico, Guatemala, and the USA, and seen photos and film of it happening elsewhere. Always the springs dry up and rain stops penetrating the ground. Aquifers and ground water lessen too. It is not the lack of rain due to any 'climate change' that is causing the barren land, it is the useless agriculture, useless education, use of chemical fertilisers instead of compost and manure, but primarily the deforestation and then grazing, that causes the problem. In Permaculture and other sustainable systems it is well-known and understood and many projects have proven it! There are many examples of ways to green the deserts when the appropriate methods are used.
These UN-based moaning little presentations are like the ones that can be seen on news reports in the media. Always the same kind of theme and designed to get people to give money to fund 'aid programs' or, in this case, moralise about climate changes.
When people stop grazing animals and start using agro-forestry and Permaculture techniques the problems of malnutrition will end quickly, as the land greens and diversity returns.
Go to sites about Madagascar and see that there is a fat-men-in-suits led political process (military and coups, etc) that has been going on for years. The multi-national corporations are allowed in, in exchange for borrowing from the IMF/World Bank, and the manipulation and trouble begins. Then the worst types of agriculture are employed with promotion of agro-chemicals to farmers. In a few years people are starving. It's the same around the world.

The fact remains that there has been snow in Madgascar where it has not snowed since 1900. Clear evidence of cooling!

If you want to refer to this kind of thing you really need to know what you're talking about.

I found this interesting video on Russia today..

"Arctic - Ground Zero for climate change"
                11 August, 2009, 22:06

Temperatures in the Arctic might increase by nine degrees by the end of the century, which is considered a tremendous change said Patrick Tucker, director of communications for the World Future Society.

At a global conference last March in Copenhagen, scientists announced that climate change is occurring faster than expected.

One month later, the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration forecast that Arctic ice would melt away within 30 years.

The funny thing about all this hot air and cherry-picking is that it distracts very conveniently from providing a peer-reviewed study that shows that there is proof of the claim/theory that CO2 causes global warming!
The reason why a so-called 'scientist' refuses to produce the peer-reviewed study is because there is NO such study, and the reason there is NO such study is because there is NO proof that CO2 causes global warming!
However, there is substantial evidence to show that CO2 follows warming and even evidence that it causes cooling!

The whole politically-driven issue is a scam for profit and control and so-called 'scientists' who claim that humans are the primary force driving climate changes are wrong and being slowly revealed to be corrupt! They are playing with the lives of billions of people who will starve as the Earth cools and the grain speculation (and other commodity speculation) drives up food prices because of the illegal legislation on bio-fuels and the scam of 'carbon credits'.

In the coming few years all humans will come to know the truth and the corrupt scammers will face the shame of their lies, which will be too late for the millions dying now and the millions that will die in the next few years!
