WTF??! Is that a joke, Dave?

For one thing, may I suggest you include some
    information about this Elizabeth Warren?
If she were to become supreme matriarch
for life and all--I don't even know who she is.

She may be a household name throughout much of America,
but I bet I'm not the only one who would like to know more
about her values and views before endorsing her...

Elizabeth Warren is one of the early whistle blowers about the credit economy..

The Coming Collapse of the Middle Class
    UCtelevision op 31 jan 2008
Distinguished law scholar Elizabeth Warren teaches contract law, bankruptcy, and commercial law at Harvard Law School. She is an outspoken critic of America's credit economy, which she has linked to the continuing rise in bankruptcy among the middle-class. Series: "UC Berkeley Graduate Council Lectures" [6/2007]

    I think..
She would feel Embarrassed by this tribe description because she is modest..

What you think you can stick another person up the top and give it a different name and it's all fixed?????

Here's the problem David and you would have to be a bit of an historian to understand this.

Go back a few thousand years.....
When a village fucks up, the village collapses. This could happen for a number of reasons, plague, war, famine etc.

When a country fucks up, usually for much the same reasons, then the damage control is more extensive. With the village survivors moving to a new location, they are hardly noticeable, some spend the rest of time moving (gypsies). When a country fucks up, the moving mass becomes an invading army across borders.

Leaders, to prevent this event from happening create "buffer zones" around their own boarders. To do this, they have to invade their direct neighbours and subjugate them, or more subtly (and cheaper), making deals with the more greedy in the higher end of government.

As time passes and the world becomes more familiar with itself, it begins to see that there is a lack of balance.
Resources from one country are removed by a minority who live in luxury while the majority of the population die from the usual plague and famine.
The resources are used by the other country to further consolidate it's position as a power base, while it further deals with the minorities of the countries it is dealing with.
Eventually, there is a revolution in one or more of these countries and the leaders are removed. This is not usually a pleasant time for anyone but the minority, who just change location.

A wise ruler would create a system of government that would never allow ANY leader to do what GW Bush did.
The American system of government was judged unfit to rule that day.
No American can save your way of life now, because your people are TOO indoctrinated.
Your history is very one eyed and your foreign policies show a lack of tact.
Yes you are still wealthy, but your wealth is only momentary.
You have created enemies to keep yourselves distracted for the problems that you are and therefore create distrust wherever you go.
Your media shows you to consistently be the saviours of the world, yet your actions have shown the opposite.

Are you alone in this position? No.

There have been empires that have risen on the corpses of their neighbours since the first North Americans arrived in South America and found Australians living there. They wiped them out.
Fortunately, for that singular people, Australia was a very isolated place and they have been able to survive here until the rest of us became a little more civilised, but only a little.

You don't want another fucking lawyer in charge of your country. For all their arrogance, they are a very stupid people.

Your entire system of living needs reviewing. I'd say you need to incorporate a true Communist system, but your indoctrination would have you reject the system because of the word and the word because two stupid countries have used it to describe themselves although they were and still are no better than your selves.

As I said, you are not alone.

You need to look at history as a whole.

Recognise the civilisations that firstly, lasted longer than any other.
Why they lasted and recognise what allowed them to eventually fail.

You see, in the end, it is all too hard to change from where we are in the amount of time we have left for ourselves to do the change. Like Global Warming, we wait until the point of no return and then say something stupid like "Why should we do anything when the Chinese aren't?"

        Your country is screwed.

History has proven that you are at that point where a major revolution is at hand and you continue to allow organisations like the "Tea Party" to have voice. Get hold of the historical records of the French revolution and see why the guillotine was a humanitarian invention. This is NOT as bad as it could get.

This house of sticks was set to tumbling by a group of terrorists last century and the bait was eventually taken on 911.

At any time, successive American governments could have changed the course of history to prevent that fateful day and the horrific aftermath that occurred and continues to do so, but instead when the historical documents are viewed for what they are, it is clear that 911 and it's aftermath was set up by greedy self serving people who, to this day can be seen shaking hands with all those who have been declared enemies of the state.
The sad thing is, those people were Americans.
Americans who have openly declared they were complicit in kidnapping, torture and murder are free to roam, while the lesser figures remain incarcerated.
Nothing will change until you correct this error.

And David, only America can do it.

The instructions for how to do it are in our Declaration of Independence. It spells out our duty to ourselves, to our children and to our future.

A document that was advanced for it's age, but has been so manipulated as to make it worthless.

It is a brilliant place to start, but the document itself must be re-written.
            A right to bear arms......in a malitia!
I believe it says. But your people have taken the first part of the statement and ran all the way to the finish line with it.
How many people do you know who own a gun?

The truth is again, the problem does not actually stand with this document that you have placed so much on as your defence in every criminal act, but in the shear arrogance that comes with believing you have the perfect system already in place. You step outside your borders and PREACH this attitude.

When I was seven we moved by ship from Britain to Australia.

We landed in Aden and went ashore. It was an alien land with an alien people. There was literally nothing that was familiar at all. It is one thing to see something so very different to what you have seen in your life up till then, but to have the world around you that different and only your family, the only thing that is as it was.

This cannot happen today. Wherever you go, there is a McDonalds, or some other US multinational spreading it's disease and disease it is in the true meaning of the word dis- ease meaning "not at ease".

In the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the British began to shave down their empire. It was mainly in the nineteenth that they experienced attacks like you have experienced, but thanks to a certain little Indian man we have all come to love, they (the British) got the great "Oh Yeah!" and began their withdrawal from other nations.

You still believe that Iran is the bad guy here. Not the best of countries to live I'll admit, but no worse than any of the others.

I believe most of those who were responsible for the 911 attacks were Saudis. Do I REALLY have to say any more on that?

None of this has much to do with your constitution.

It has a lot to do with your attitude to others. You believe in your hearts that everyone around you is less than you and you show that in your films, your words and actions.
You are the ultimate missionaries who arrive in another's home and replacing that unique culture with your own.

People resent it. This is why the world is in the state it is now. This is where we have come to after a mere half a century of American rule.

Your constitution did not do this. You did.

            YOUR selves
            YOUR children
            YOUR future

You have used the rest of the world as YOUR toilet and still, you cannot see that it's YOUR MESS and WE are have a shit of a time trying to keep it in check.

I have to agree with you on one account, Gerard--
we DID do this. I used to think that it was not us,
it was those in power that have different
              values and agendas, however,
now that I recently heard the
saying, "If you do not stand up
and take a side...you are (by default)
supporting the opposition to your own ideals."
              (It goes something like that)

It is so easy for you, not being
a citizen of the U.S. to sling your venom
and, in some ways, I envy you that, but, please know,
that we, the peoples, are currently making up for
much lost ground conceded to the opposition...

Don't worry, I throw my venom at those here in Australia who act as if this nation is the "be all" and they're way of thinking is the only way to think.

Do I believe that I have all the answers? No

Do I believe my way is the best way? No

I would be at fault though if I saw my neighbour fuelling his car at a petrol station with a cigarette in his mouth and not point out to him in the most stern way possible my disapproval of the act. (I have done this....He was not an American)

I would be at fault if I saw my neighbour throw rubbish on the street at my feet and not let him know my disapproval in the most stern way.
(I did this in Sydney with my wife by my side and I came to the guy's elbow in height.. She was not impressed. He picked up his rubbish and put it in the bin.)

I would be remiss in my duty if my neighbour saw me do something wrong and pointed it out to me in any way and I did not stop and correct my own behaviour.

It has nothing to do with leaders, it has to do with us. this is where it starts and finishes.

Not I and not the people of the United States of America, but those in power who are serving the intrests of corporate greed have perpetrated these heinous actions. Do not paint all Americans with the same brush. I have demonstrated against the unjust occupations that my government has been involved in.

As to owning a gun, I have owned a rifle in the past--I used it to hunt deer during hunting season to provide venison for my family and to defend our sheep from coyotes who'd developed a taste for mutton.

I am not a woman of violence, but I will rise up and take whatever implement is at hand if I see armed thugs in uniform drawing on my unarmed brothers and sisters who are protesting a situation where they cannot find jobs to enable them to put food on their children's table or a roof over their heads--I will defend not only my brothers and sisters here in the US, but those in other parts of the world

i think we need to get it out of our heads that there is an America any longer - and all along it was as much mythology as fact. But this Norman Rockwell facade simply not real. No demoncracy. No land of freedom - America is one the worst countries in the world for upward mobility - your chances of changing your station in life are approaching zero. On scores of measures including this rediculous myth that Americans seem to totally indulge themselves in that we have the "best damn medical care in the world", America is falling into second world status heading for third world status and the collapse hasn't even hit yet.

God died in the 60's and America died in the 90's - what we have now is an unholy golem as a replacement and I am certain that we collectively would do better to accept reality full on because this lie that America still lives is used against us constantly - the great movement of wall st only happening now that it has gotten so bad and as usual with these things starts with the kids & good on them

i just am certain that it is much worse than they understand and i'm so sick of it all and I'm sick and weak and I make no apology about crawling away to Costa Rica - I want out of here so bad my head is about to explode but we're close to leaving and honest to god I'm a little worried that this crash my happen before we leave and how that may complicate an already complicated affair?

Dammit Elizabeth, I love you, dude

but look here - don't blame America. This was done to America by very powerful, highly organized and totally unscrupulous bunch of world class psychopathic assholes

if you can blame yourself because a five hundred pound gorilla squeezes your head like a grape, then blame America for her own death

and once america is brought to her knees, our mind boggling military infrastructure all around the globe will belong a one world government organized to "HELP" the devestated peoples of the world and BAM instant world fascism complete with rapid population kill off and though I now think sadly of America as a well planned killing field, America is not the target, the world is the target

America is just a junk yard dog that must be brought to heel in order to control the world

I was curious what could possibly keep this thread going so long, but I guess it is just political debate. Here's some quotes from the founding fathers of the USA.

“Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.” - John Adams

"Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote!" Franklin, Benjamin

“A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine.” - Thomas Jefferson

The problem is when it reaches its final stages, democracies very often go on a world domination war path and become dictatorships. Now that we have nuclear weapons, that is one route we really don't want to happen, but it is a route that the USA is about to go on anyway, like it or not, and nuclear weapons will be used.

I've said before that Gaia is alive, and Gaia is God. God knows that this is about to happen, and has simply waited for the right moment to setup a new form of society, just slightly before the old form of society vaporizes itself along with all of its gung ho followers. Like it or not, there's nothing like nuclear war to weaken a society so a new form of society can take over. 'Course, the bad guys probably also know this, and that is probably why the bad guys want nuclear war, to setup their own system of society. So after the nuclear war, there'll probably be one last war between the real good guys and the real bad guys.

As for this comment "Gerard, I wish those responsible could get an earful of your spite, but, please spare us, who did not push the button... ", it is always the people who are responsible for the actions of their leaders. The people give their power to their leaders, the people have it in their power to take away that power. If the people would stop placing the blame on their leaders, and take that blame upon themselves, and do something about it, there'd be no problems. The leaders want you to be weak, so that you'll do as they say, but you need to stand up and be strong. If you are strong, they have no power over you.

I've always considered that to be what being a "man" or a "woman" or simply being mature is about. When you are a child, you need others to take care of you. When you grow up, you do for yourself. When you are a child, you are dependent. When you are mature, you are independent. If you obtain enough inner strength and wisdom, you can be more powerful than any nation, as nations are always lead by people with the minds of children.

                Tony

I am a member of several organisations including Amnesty International.
This is an amazing springboard to do just what you have suggested. Give the perpetrators an earful.

There are also many other methods these days to contact world leaders, corporate managers, military commanders and let your venom spill out.
But I have to disagree with you when you say "NOT ME SIR. IT WAS THEM!"
Across this planet Mc Donalds stores cover almost every city. I have done electrical work in the local head office.
The imagery put into practice by this organisation is heretical to say the least. The largest section of the building is the legal department searching out any and all reference to the brand name in other companies and avoiding legal responsibilities to it's customers and employees.

I've used this reference before. Watch the film "Men who stare at goats" and take note of the security team incident.
The issue with America is not about solely military action, it's also about attitude.

I have never had any problems with anyone as an individual. There are people I get on with and those I don't. But people are a product of their upbringing and whether we are raised in the US, Canada, China, Australia, Indonesia or somewhere in Europe, our behaviour in other lands, our attitude toward those people from those lands and our sense of responsibility toward our neighbours is a direct result of the institutions and media blasted at us as we grew from childhood.
The United States of the later 20th and early 21st century has the same attitudes as those of 18th to early twentieth century England.
This is not your fault, but unless you note it, you will react to others without thought.
Your media has been flooded into our TVs and movie theatres replacing our local work and giving our young a false image of their world. Slowly, our world is being replaced by reflections of yours.

There are parallels throughout history and the historical interactions between Britain and India will show you the way and also more easily express the meanings behind my words.

You see before the opening of the Suez Canal, Brits would go to India and become Indian in all ways other than skin colour. Harmony between the peoples.
After the opening, came conflict. Not much different to the kinds of conflict your people are experiencing today. You will find your answers to why there is a statement like "the ugly American" being used in the world today.

There are a lot of interesting things in this last post Gerard.
I am particularly interested in the broadcast of media, since I watch a fair bit of channel 4 and E4 where they air shows like "my name is earl" " the big bang theory" "true blood" etc.
it makes me wonder, what type of messages i may be taking away from these shows, or in my current mindset, I may be more capable of choosing what to take from what I watch. perhaps if we are mindful of the messages we appreciate and those we do not, we are in a state of mind where we do not get brainwashed so much. is it possible that there is a difference between how we are effected as children and how we choose to be effected when we are adults?
I like to think of myself as a switched on individual who knows what sort of things are around me and therefore choose what i allow to influence me, but how much control do I really have? is it simply the ignorant who get brainwashed, or do each of us in this forum have as much susceptibility as anyone else?

another thing i found interesting was the comparison to england. I won't take umbridge with your use of england here, as sometimes england is used as a blanket term to cover the other three countries in the uk, much to my horror, but in this case, I believe it is correct, as it was the english who also subjected the welsh to their rule, along with all the other countries they invaded. it just so happens wales is one of the last occupied territories. I might compare the treatment of welsh people to some of the treatment of other peoples in american media. such 'jovial' insults as 'sheep shagger' seem to be acceptable for some reason. it seems to be a common sport for the english to insult the welsh. it's quite telling that here in wales we simply do not have any 'nickname' for english people.
is this even related? I'm not completely sure, but I am thinking that some parallels may be drawn. by those with a better knowledge of world politics.
                  • This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.

I understand what you say my Welsh brother. I was born in Scotland and spent only long enough in England to get to Southhampton and off to Australia.
Yes our nations too were subjugated by that original power, but what we both need to understand, is that that Nation in itself was an invader of the Saxons and before them the Britons. Our original invaders were Normans and they spoke French.

There is a film that has just been released in DVD called "Oranges and Sunshine". It is yet another reason why we need to be aware.

This country I am very much a part of today has a legacy that aches my heart and the fury builds bright in my throat when I hear the bigoted garbage sprouting from the horrid throats of some of our scum politicians.

What is shown in that film is just the tip of the iceberg which I will go into further another time.

Are you referring in part to what happened with the aborigines. I know of our shameful history of how we treated the indigenous peoples of North America as well as how the native populations of Central and South Americans were treated. Columbus Day occured, I believe Monday and some of the freinds in my circle joked around about celebrating the holiday by going into someones house and claiming that we discovered it and claim it as our own--which is in fact what we did hundreds of years ago with the new world---what is it about us Anglo-europeans?

get the film and you will see just one part and yes the native policies of those governments is another, but there is still more.
What happened with British children and native Australian children also happened with children born in this country.

The nightmare thing is that not only do you have those who have been outed, like the Christian Brothers and the attempted coverups by the Catholic Church, but most of the other NGOs as well as Government organisations including Police and Judiciary were involved with the wholesale kidnapping of babies and children from not only single mothers, but those who appeared unfit to the untrained eyes of the thief.

For generations women giving birth in hospitals across this country unknowingly ran the gauntlet of having their babies stolen to be given to another to raise. Married women would have a dead baby put in their arms when a healthy cry had been heard only minutes before.

Although there were laws that stated there was a cooling off period, this was ignored and when there was a minimum age for the baby, this too was ignored.
When I said earlier that there were some battles that I was engaged in, this was one of them. My own wife was one of these women.

What we have discovered, would break your heart.

Contact the Mater Catholic Hospital in Crows Nest in Sydney and ask for records of an operation in 1970 and you would have no problems. Ring again and ask for birth records and the records room had a fire several years ago and all records were lost.

(what we did hundreds of years ago with the new world.)
This is the cry of the guilty. That it happened so far in the past that there is nothing I can do. I am not responsible.
The stolen children and their mothers in the example above are still alive. Native peoples all over the world still live in squalor. You are responsible because we are ALL part of this and it is WORLD WIDE and WE who have the ability have the duty to do something.

Here is a poem I wrote many years ago--I do feel the earth cry. As a woman who went through 2 miscarriages and 2 failed adoptions my heart bleeds for your wife and those other women.

                          Feeling the Earth Cry

                          Immense weight pressing
                          Shoulders hunched to the ground
                          Warm crimson saline floods
                          Washing my head and back
Drenching my feet in the sorrows of the ages.

                          Heart gripped in a vise
Ears ringing with the din of wronged souls

                          Who will hear their anguish?
Who will answer the Mother’s call to justice?
Who can feel the earth cry?

Namaste, Gerard, and many blessings to you and your wife

Under attack, Elizabeth Warren keeps focus squarely on Wall Street
    By Greg Sargent

Elizabeth Warren’s campaign is up with its first ad of the cycle — a direct response to Crossroads GPS’s ad attacking her for embracing Occupy Wall Street. It’s now clear that Warren will be the number one target for an emerging national conservative strategy: Seizing on the protests to tar Dems as culturally out of touch with struggling blue collar whites and moderates, and to discredit Dem policies designed to address inequality by depicting them as radical and out of the mainstream.

Warren’s response, which will air across Massachusetts tomorrow:

    www.youtube.com/watch

The ad’s emphasis on her modest roots is a sign that Warren and her advisers see the need to aggressively push back on conservative efforts to use her intellectual credentials as a cultural negative. The Crossroads GPS spot went out of its way to sneeringly refer to “Professor Elizabeth Warren” and her “intellectual theories.” National Republicans regularly refer to her as a “professor,” too. The ad’s implicit rebuttal to the “elitist” charge — it talks about her family’s struggles — suggests the Warren camp knows that her bio and alleged cultural elitism will be central to the race.

While Warren doesn’t directly engage attacks on her over the protests, she reiterates that her candidacy — and career — are all about challenging Wall Street:

“For years I worked to expose how Wall Street and the big banks are crushing middle class families. It just isn’t right. I stood up to the big banks and their army of Washington lobbyists. I worked to hold them accountable. I led the fight for a new agency to protect consumers. And we got it. But Washington is still rigged for the big guys. That’s got to change.”

Warren and her advisers recognize the political danger of getting drawn into an all or nothing choice between fully embracing the protests or repudiating them. Instead, as this ad indicates, Warren intends to keep the focus on the broader argument set in motion by the protests — over inequality, excessive Wall Street influence and lack of Wall Street accountability — and on the fact that anxiety and anger over these problems are mainstream public sentiments that go far beyond the diehards camped out in tents.

Indeed, it’s worth asking whether the attacks on Warren constitute a bit of overreach: As Sam Stein notes, her campaign has already brought in over $300,00 in fundraising off the Crossroads attack, and will likely bring in much more.

Bottom line: While Warren does seem to be treading a bit carefully when it comes to the protests’ excesses, it’s clear that the attacks aren’t softening the populist rationale of her candidacy at all. They are doing nothing to distract her campaign from keeping the focus exactly where it belongs: On Wall Street.
