it's a holocaust there..deliberately lit fires..the toll so far 166 alot more to come...so many burned to death even in cars as they tried to escape...100 metre high flames and covering 1.5 km's in 5mins...not much chance...
5000 people are homeless and 750 homes destroyed...so very sad...the arsonists should get a taste of their own medicine..

of the annual 600,000 fires each year half of those are deliberately lit...

      wanton destruction..no reason?

The Victoria Govt is going to be changing it's current policy on bushfires which currently you have a choice to stay and fight or leave...had many left they would still be alive..but these fires were wild..and the firebugs kept relighting...they have 3 in custody so far..

Some or more is arson...apparently there has been a call for Islamics to use forest fires as an honerable jihad tactic. A web site has been up for awhile inciting it's followers to look to this new tactic in Australia and the U.S. too. I will try to track back to re-locate the link................e

Well understandably the page has been censored out and the link I followed from drudgereport.com now leads to a "so sorry, page unavailable" excuse. I am sure they don't want to give us more reason to have issues with fundamental terrorists, and fan the flames, but it was a credible report that I read this morning from an Australian source. www.theage.com.au/ They do have a new article claiming to be closing in on suspects and that they are responsible for multi - locations. I guess we shall have to wait for details.........or search for more loose leads..............may prayers rain down profusely......................e

man I had been thinking about a novel about just that - it is so dry in the southwest US that a guy with a vehicle and a bic could lay waste to vast amounts of land. A coordinated attack by more than one individual with only a little more technology than a bic could really wreck some havoc! Same in Australia, evidently. I feel for you. We have had almost no snow this winter and Spring is going to be very, very dry here. We are surrounded by a million acre national forest and in the Spring when the forest is dry it is like a tender box.
